That's great news! I was afraid she'd been injured or worse, but maybe she migrated for a month or so & is back now! :flirty:

There's a falcon home again since at least 20 min. Have only seen its back so far. She (I think it's her, given the very long toes) was off for half a minute, came back, went inside and came out - then I had to stop viewing for some minutes, and she seems to be eating, but personally didnot see prey brought in - so maybe from those "remains" we've been seeing.

All this with a beautiful fog (or low hanging cloud) background - and right now the sun comes through - I see a shadow on the ledge. Snapshots to follow.

Edit 11:38 - Sun is out now, falcon still there, has flown off for very brief moments twice. There was no real "breakfast" when I watched -it was indeed just picking some remains (but what happened before 10:45 I have no idea - Ferenz - are you watching, too?).
Breast visible now - the bird is probably 2nd calendar year - still vertical stripe pattern on upper part of breast and horizontal striping as adult in lower part of breast. No white "bib", so bird is definitely not the female visible in the clip "Fütterung des Falkennachwuchses" from May 13, 2010 on the site of the webcam.

Yes, I'm watching since 8:30am. In my opinion it should be carla. This falcon has a rosy chest indeed.

Why should this falcon be a male? The resident male here is still antonio.

More cute pics will follow soon.

Thanks Bosuil for the narrative this morning, & thanks to Ferenz for all the great pictures! With Carla back we can look forward to some cute chicks this season--just wish they had an inside cam so we could see inside!

Whaw - you caught them! Great snapshots, Ferenz, also the earlier ones! It was fantastic to watch, this morning- first the falcon against the fog as background (so different), see ithe fog disappear slowly, and study the bird's behaviour - she was at the ledge so long and kept returning.

About who this bird is - well, I have been watching only a few months (and not that often), so I went back to the archive to see the pictures from the past season. Still not 100% sure, mainly 'cause what I wrote above about that clip of the feeding and some of the other photo's. Maybe the white "bib" seems larger when she's tearing off parts from the prey while feeding (stretching really high).

Curious: wouldn't her plumage (being in at least the 3rd calenderyear now) not turn more into the pattern of an adult? Or don't they mold in the autumn, but throughout the year? Note to self: do some extra reading :-) !

That was my thought as well, Bosuil. These Winter plumages are throwing us off for a couple of peregrines, but I'm not sure all of those spots have anything to do with Winter plumage. :-?

Well, we are learning a lot about these birds with all of our questioning.

I wonder what's happened to the little juvie?

Thanks for the coverage and pictures. Interesting.

oH here's that expression now.

You know, I always thought that Carla had a bit of a juvie look to her sometimes, not like the real juvie we saw,but something.

So maybe those streaks on Carla's bib made her look youngish, ljames.

Chances are that the juvie is all right, since generally adult peregrines just chase juvies out of the area & don't fight them.

Thanks for the great pictures this morning everyone!
