Unless she comes to the ground, I doubt they could catch her. If they tried from the ledge the little chicks might run over the side. It has happened before, not here, but another nest. Wonder if they could zoom the camera in on her up there.

Just saw your post SGB. I have seen zooming before.

I doubt if anyone is there to man the cameras. Jane said earlier she was going down there and Reenie hasn't posted for a while. Maybe they met up. I'm sure one or the other will have some info later.

At least she is close by even if she can't take care of the boys. And LilDad is probably on the other cam. He will take care of all of them.

That is so true, Heida. . AND she is still standing. I just hope she isn't in too much pain, if there is a physical injury. She did vocalize earlier in the day and quite loudly too. . unfortunately, we're just gonna have to wait this out.

Lil' Dad is so good, he'll make sure the kids are taken care of. I just hate that he may have to do this by himself ..

I hope Jane and Reenie (if they are down there) can get a good look at her. . maybe they'll run into someone with a scope. .

Since I am new to falcon watching, can someone answer me this:

I see Lil Dad has really stepped up since he knows something is wrong with NG and someone said he will be able to provide and teach the little guys but how much longer before they can fly and learn to hunt their own food? They are changing so much each day so I know their nutritional needs are also increasing but the little stuff he brought in today seems like it would not be enough to meet all of their needs.

Will Lil Dad also try to provide for NG or will he just let nature take it's course? It just breaks my heart to see her in such a state.

Jane has a scope. I'm sure that the girls there are very busy doing whatever they can do. I am encouraged that the Cam has been adjusted to see the Cam itself. That is a new occurance.

NG WAS JUST TALKING TO THE KIDS, HER VOICE ALMOST SOUNDED THE SAME, BUT NOT QUITE. HERE'S THE PICTURE I GOT OF HER WHEN SHE WAS ON THE UNIV BLDG THIS AFTERNOON, RIGHT BEFORE SHE CAME OVER TO THE CAM SHE IS STILL ON.

To me it looks as if the upper beak of NG is distorted, most likely from a collision with a building/window. That can also explain her strange movements with the head and the swallowing attempts.
She sure needs help, this looks to be an injury that will not heal itself properly. :girlsad3:

If I remember correctly, males fly (fledge) at about 37 days old, give or take. (They are 28 days old today.) Females need a few more days since they are larger. Learning to hunt takes a few weeks after they master flying.

This is an unusual situation, but Lil Dad is a pretty amazing tiercel. My guess, however, is that his instincts are guided toward his kids first, and they will need most of his time.

IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE SHE HAS A WOUND ON HER LEFT SIDE THERE BY HER CROP. YESTERDAY MORNING, SHE LOOKED FINE, BUT MAYBE STILL HAD THE WOUND? IT'S SO HARD TO FIGURE OUT JUST WHAT IS GOING ON WITH HER, MY HEART ACHES SINCE I FIRST SAW HER, BESIDES THE CRYING I DID. THAT'S WHY THEY ZOOMED, SO THEY COULD SEE HER. THEY WON'T BE ZOOMING ANYMORE TODAY. HERE IS A PICTURE FROM YESTERDAY MORNING, I THOUGHT SHE LOOKED OK ON MY CAMERA, BUT NOW I SEE, SHE DIDN'T AT ALL. IT LOOKS LIKE HER WHOLE THROAT IS SWOLLEN IN THIS PICTURE AND THE FEATHERS ARE MISSING?

These images of NG are quite difficult to look at. What an upsetting situation. :sosad

NG USUALLY DOES TAKE FOOD THAT LIL DAD BRINGS AND THEN HE JUST GOES AND GETS MORE FOR THEM. SO FAR, HE'S BEEN DOING GREAT, BUT CAN HE KEEP IT UP AS THEY GET OLDER? MY HEART ACHES FOR HIM TOO. POOR THING.........

I'm afraid I have to agree with you, DEF. ..looking at Reenie's earlier pictures, her upper/lower beaks look misaligned. It could also explain why she is not preening. It could be very difficult for her to eat too. . bless her heart. .

OH wow. . dad just came in with food and NG jus flew down. .I sure hope she is still there when the cam changes. .

great. . geeeez .. that would have been perfect .. ok. . dad on stick?

I imagine Lil Dad will run himself ragged trying to take care of his whole family. After looking at the first pictures of NG, I see that her crop is pretty full so she is able to eat.

Thanks for the picture of her Reenie & to you, Jane & Sue for going down there to see if she could be helped. In the picture, her head looks like Beauty's & Beauty's head injury was from Unity's talons. Wonder if there was another (or the same intruder) & NG has been fighting. I guess the feathers on her head could also be from her head being wet & when she defeathered, some small feathers stuck to her.

Awww...Lil Dad just brought food & everybody (including NG) came running. Not sure whether she's preparing it for the kids or herself.
