YES, LIL DAD DID LAND ON THE STICK AND NG DOVE OFF THE TOP OF THE COLUMNS RIGHT AFTERWARDS. LIL DAD THEN WENT IN THE SCRAPE LOOKING FOR SCRAPS FOR THE CHICKS AND I THOUGHT IT SEEMED LIKE HE WAS GOING TO SCRAPE SOME TOO, BUT THEN HE ALSO WAS DOWN BY THE CHICKS AND TRIED TO GIVE THEM A SCRAP FROM THE LEDGE, BUT THEY WEREN'T HAVING IT. HE THEN FLEW OFF. WILL POST VIDEO LATER.

I remember too last year that she was making LO walk out to her to get the prey, and we thought at the time she was trying to get him to fledge early but she was probably trying to avoid the bad window as much as possible. She is obviously terrified of humans to abandon her chicks, but still hoping it will pass as it did before. If not, I guess that she could choose not to nest on the ledge next year or just leave period. Maybe they could put up some kind or barrier so that she could not see inside or her reflection, but that won't help with the banding process. Thank God for Lil' Dad.

Somebody on the stick, guess Lil' Dad as he went into the scrape for a minute . One chick is standing and crying , the other asleep by the post. I wonder, would they actually miss their mother?

I think that's Lil Dad on the stick right now. Must finish a couple things before heading out. Hope to be down there by 2:00. Rain is coming from the west, but a couple hours away from here.

one little chick is running around the ledge flapping trying to entertain himself. He is very awkward though. That always makes me nervous. He is really checking himself out in the window. I fact, a few minutes ago I thought that he went talon to talon with it. :egg13:

Both chicks sacked out right now, and Lil Dad is no longer on the stick. Revised ETA downtown is now between 2:15 and 2:30. And yes, I'll be careful!

I think I have changed my mind about NG and her "condition." I think she is doing her best to get her chicks to come to her, away from the ledge, where she feels more safe. That's what the withholding of food is about as much as keeping them slender for fledging, and why she takes food away from L'il Dad and flies away with it. No way does she want them around those horrible humans on that ledge, nor does she want any part of it. Unfortunately for her, the chicks aren't ready to fly away right now, but she keeps trying. What will be so interesting will be what happens once they do fledge and get competent at flying. Will they go away with her? Will L'il Dad have to choose another partner next season? Would New Girl select a "wild" nest site thus helping lower the "endangered" status with successful nesting? Lots of possibilities!

THERE WAS A FEEDING BY LIL DAD AT 4PM AND A FEEDING GOING ON NOW BY LIL DAD.

YOU WILL BE HAPPY TO KNOW THAT NG WAS ON THE CAM ABOVE THE SCRAPE WHEN LIL DAD WAS FEEDING AT 4PM AND THEN HE WENT TO THE STICK AND THEY BOTH WERE THERE TOGETHER. THEN LIL DAD LEFT AND WENT TO THE STEEPLE. LIL DAD IS FEEDING NOW.

SAW JANE THERE AND SHE'LL POST HER REPORT LATER. I'LL POST SOME PICTURES LATER TOO :-)

OK, LET'S START OVER HERE, JUST WATCHED THE VIDEO, IT'S 3 HOURS AND 40 MINS LONG BECAUSE I WAS GONE FOR A WHILE. SOMETIME BEFORE 5PM I WAS LEAVING FROM THE BLDG AND LIL DAD WAS ON THE STEEPLE. TURNS OUT JANE STAYED AND SAID WHEN HE LEFT THE STEEPLE, HE CAME BACK WITH FOOD. SAW THAT ON THE VIDEO, HE WAS DEFEATHERING AT THE END OF THE LEDGE AND THE CHICKS WERE PRACTICALLY ON THE POINT! NG CAME RUNNING DOWN THE LEDGE ON THE OUTER SIDE OF THE ORANGE POLE. SHE GOT THE FOOD FROM LIL DAD AND SHE DID FEED THE CHICKS SOME. THEN ALL THE SUDDEN, SHE STOPS FEEDING THE CHICKS, MOVES THE FOOD ALITTLE MORE IN ON THE LEDGE AND GOES AND SITS AT THE END OF THE LEDGE. LIL DAD COMES TO THE RESCUE AND PICKS UP THE FOOD AND FINISHES FEEDING THE CHICKS. THE ONE CHICK GOES DOWN THE LEDGE WHEN DONE BY THE SCRAPE. THE OTHER ONE GETS DONE AND GOES OVER AGAINST THE BLDG. LIL DAD GOES AFTER HIM AND MAKES HIM EAT MORE. AND THEN LIL DAD SAVES ONE BITE FOR THE CHICK BY THE SCRAPE AND RUNS DOWN THERE AND GIVES IT TO HIM! IT WAS SO SWEET! THEN LIL DAD WENT TO SIT ON THE STICK. THE WHOLE TIME, NG WAS ON THE END OF THE LEDGE AND IS STILL THERE NOW.
