She feeding now. She's been trying to get some food down the younger one, but it won't open its mouth! Its sitting up like its ready to eat & she's rubbing his beak with hers like she's trying to get him to open his mouth, but its not working. She did this a number of times, so she understands that this one should be eating, too.

Edit: Now she's taken the left-overs away, both kids are zonked, & the one that wouldn't open his mouth while I could see him has a feather sticking out of his mouth, so he must have gotten something! :egg14:

I am hoping that the one chick is o.k.; when mom left the nest, he did not move, and he still is not moving.

You must mean the one on our left--the older one. I just assumed that he was in a food coma because he got most of the food! :egg13:

Yes, that is the one I meant. I was abit concerned, but if he is just too full to move, that is o.k. with me.

I think you're right and that she is a new mom. Her youth is probably the reason her beak is still blue.

I did see one feeding this afternoon & I couldn't see the older chick but from mom's actions it seemed to be eating. It was a decently long feeding, especially for such tiny ones. As I posted earlier, she really tried to get the younger one to eat, but it wouldn't open its beak! We can hope she's a quick learner!

Family portrait. Chicks being fed now & the little one has "sort of" figured out the "open beak" part.

He's actually getting a fair amount. Both of them are still very unsturdy.

I thought that one chick had choked to death, but it's sitting back up now. I'm assuming the other one just got full.

Glad to see you're watching the cam now, ljames! :egg5:

I'm sure she'll be fine just like any other new mothers. She did show a lot of patience this afternoon trying to get the youngest to eat!

He was trying to figure out how to cover the chicks & the egg & seemed to have given up. Main problem it looked like was figuring out where to put his feet! He's just standing there gazing at them adoringly when they move. :girlluv:
