This situation is just so sad and getting more stressful as each day goes by. As you all are, I am just hoping, hoping, hoping that Mother Nature will restore Archer soon.

Catwoman, great job finding that info about storing sperm. :bow I had forgotten that. Yes, Froona to the rescue as SGB said. :egg 19:

Doesn't that egg look rather pale?

Glad he's been seen today--thanks, Carly!

Beauty is Chomping at the Bit! – Update – 3/31/12
Update from June Summers, President, Genesee Valley Audubon.

We received a report on Beauty’s condition this morning. In June’s words, “Beauty is chomping at the bit to be out of that cage!”

Beauty has healed and is quite feisty. June says, “She needs to be free. Keeping her in a cage at this point would not be good for her and could possibly cause her further harm.”

At this time, we are not sure when and where she will be released, that is a decision that the DEC will make.

Now the question is, when Beauty is released, where will she go? We all believe there is a very good chance she will head back to Rochester (NY). She is bonded to this nest site.

The Rochester Watchers will be on high alert when she is released to keep an eye on the situation. They will be there in case a falcon is injured and comes to the ground. We are all hoping that it will not come to that.

I am jsut horrified that they will release her knowing that they may have another injured falcon and that

Archer is injured too. Beauty could hang on in captivity . It has been done before.
I cannot say anymore on this because ....

I cannot watch here now.

Well, if they're convinced they have to release her within the next week, they better just get it done on the weekend when the wonderful Rochester fans are available to be on watch! :egg14:

They're idiots and I don't care if that offends anyone. She'd be fine with a falconer for a few weeks. This is just their way of not having having to spend more money or time on her. They have no business playing Russian roulette with Unity and Archer's lives at this time. And they have no business claiming to be working for the environment.

that is exactly what i was thinking Carly and I am glad you said it.

And they want the loyal watchers to pick up the pieces. :tantrum2: :tantrum2: :tantrum2: :tantrum2: :tantrum2:

A falcon just flew by the brick building there in Rochester. I hear a cry.
Now the cam on the nest-front has gone blue. :gaah:

It breaks my heart knowing he must be in pain, but I know there's no way they could get to him (even if they were allowed). :egg10:

I'm glad to hear that Archer was finally spotted today while moving around on the other ledge.

Unity was keeping watch from atop one of the cams this evening. I first saw her around 9:15 pm, but she was gone by 9:20 pm.

It's quite a long shot, but I'm hoping that all will work out well with Unity, Archer, and Beauty.

MAK has posted a photo of Archer lying down on B&L over on Rfalcon if you want to check it out. It's from the back of him but you can see his white feather as he's resting.

That picture is also on Facebook on Rfalconcam. Even though he's lying down, he still seems to be alert, which is certainly encouraging!

Hate to say it, but I think Archer is destined for rehab. He is laying around too much to recover on his own at this point.

Also, most states don't work with falconers. It might be worth mentioning if anyone knows the wildlife rehabber. They may not be as aware of that as a solution, and I guarantee a falconer would be happy to have her for a few months.
