OK I just read that "O" is on a window sill below the nest
Yeah he's likely staying there unless mom and dad encourage him to move tonight. Might be better to wait til morning in case he gets in trouble. This could go either way. The problem if he drops is if he's not strong enough, he'll lose altitude and may start banging into things and then panic and come to ground.
They're saying that it seems like he doesn't know how to get off the ledge-tried to flap but no room-needs to drop off then start flying. Someone might stay there all night to keep an eye on him tho Mak has left-has a few people staying with her for the Watchers weekend this Fri, Sat and Sun.
Yes that's happened to a few of ours in the past and when they finally drop, they aren't strong enough to regain the altitude they lost so they end up going lower - he's just inexperienced so he'll be nervous. Either he could land on a lower rooftop but usually they panic and get into trouble especially if there is not safe place to land. But then again ..he could surprise us. I remember we left Hera on a second story balcony railing one night..we stayed right until dark and came back the next morning and he was on the roof of the nest building. He had somehow flown up 17 stories...still a mystery to me how he did it but he did!
I'm for bed, it's dark out and Orion is still on ledge. Hopefully he should spend the night there resting and start out early in the morning. Mom and Dad will be nearby guarding him and waiting for him to figure out his dilema. I am going to positive and hope that after a good nights sleep, he'll be raring to go like he usually is and then he'll show us all how it's done!
sleep tight orion, you did great today!
At Weber this year, our male came in and pushed the youngster so he had to fly out and the male flew with him and got him turned around and then flew under him to give him better height and the youngster got to a better spot.
