After you mentioned the talon on the video, it looked like she was favoring it, but when she came into the box earlier (& I already knew that you were concerned about her talon) I thought she was moving fine. Maybe it was a bit stiff later? :sunconfused: I'll keep an eye out for her today.

I was also watching these 2 acting like they were watching someone flying around out there several times this morning, so the parents may be trying to get the girls to fledge & therefore be withholding food.
:nailbite:

Thanks for the video, KF. When Mom was walking across that rounded bar, it looked to me like she was just having trouble balancing due to the round surface and trying to walk forward. It didn't seem like favoring to me. But I've been wrong so many times before. We'll keep an eye out for it.

I watched the cam for a couple hours this morning then had to leave. Kids were not fed during that time which was approx. 10:00 - noon EDT. Just got back from errands . . . have they been fed? (They're sleeping, so I can't see crops.)

Turned on my computer when it was still dark on the cam. From then I was only away for less than two hours. No sounds of feedings. When I heard them, I ran to my computer. Then they just yelled. I'm so sorry. I haven't seen a parent all day.

I think the kids just got fed. An adult is sitting on the perch & both kids seem to be eating--finally!!

Edit: Its Mom & she does seem to be favoring one talon, but not excessively so. They do have food which they were fighting over, but each got at least a piece.

Edit again: Watching her walk around now, she doesn't seem to be favoring a certain leg, so I don't know...
:sunconfused:

And there was a bite of food! The parent itself seemed to be hungry too.

Ase I was thinking that mom was hungry also she sure was trying to get to the food and it looks like she might be a bit sore footed, but nothing as bad as I thought at first Thank goodness thanks for all of you pics and watching everyone.
Your the best

Also do you see how good they are getting at standing up on the rail its getting close again

That's great news that they finally got a meal, Susan! What I saw wasn't much. I wasn't watching when Mom brought it, so all I could see at first that both girls were going through the motions of eating. I saw later that it was just a small piece of prey.

I'm kinda embarrassed about what I posted about Mom's talon--makes me sound indecisive! It seems to me that she walks normally part of the time, but favors one leg part of the time.

What's wrong with sounding indecisive, catwoman? We just post what we see and what our impressions are at the time. So many times it isn't clear, but it's good to be alerted to watch for things that don't seem right. I trust your instinct; KF's too.

KF, did you ever hear back from anyone at the plant?

Right before a very small prey was brought in

There may only be one parent here.

I was concerned about the same thing, SusanE. Either that, or maybe there are intruders in the area & the parents are guarding & trying to chase them away. That was believed to be the reason there was an interruption in food in San Jose last year. We can hope that's the reason... :nailbite:
