Just got in and caught up on all the action. I actually did see Red go all the way around the column while Jane was away for a break. He was back most of the way around by the time she returned so she missed it. There was a leftover on the far side - I guess Lil Dad stashed it there earlier - and Red picked at it for a few minutes, wandered to the far edge to do a poop shoot, then returned to the narrowest part of the ledge to do some flappercizing. It looked like he wanted to pancake there but couldn't get comfortable, so he was fidgeting around a lot when Blue decided to investigate. He did some kind of maneuver to get past his brother without knocking him off the ledge and he took his turn picking at the leftovers. Lil Dad was staying very close to the ledge, but we did see him perching on the steeple and on the far corner of the U at various times. We also saw him rocket off the ledge and go straight into a stoop out past the steeple. He seemed to be empty-footed when he turned up on the U, but a few minutes later he brought prey to the 11th floor stash corner, plucked it and had a bit before taking it to the ledge for the boys' late night snack.
There are so many places near the ledge that made me think of New Girl and both of us got misty-eyed more than once. I know she is gone, but I still keep expecting to hear her distinctive voice announcing her arrival, or to look up and see her perching in one of her spots. She may have flown from our sight, but she remains a presence there. I think she must be still watching over her boys in spirit. How could a mother not? Incidentally, Alison L has posted a lovely tribute to New Girl on the CMNH forum. You can find it here:

I didn't expect them to fledge this evening and they didn't. I was more concerned with an accidental fledge as they are spending so much more time right on the edge vigorously flapping. Fortunately, they remained safe and sound and we headed for home as it got dark with all three boys at home together. Fledge Watch begins for real tomorrow night at 4:30. I think these two are ready to go, but it remains to be seen if they will actually take the leap tomorrow or wait another day or two.
