The NYSDEC people removed both eggs-possibly to be tested. The first one, which someone said was Beauty's egg, was cracked. When the tech picked it up, a lot of liquid came out of it. The other was apparently intact. Would really like to know what is found but someone said we might never be told. So glad baby got banded though-now for a name!

It looks like he's all tired out from the events of today. And tomorrow is another big day (for us, anyway) when we learn his new name!

You're welcome, kittenface! It was great to watch live and now if I need a good laugh all I have to do is watch those Swinging Brooms hahaha :)

It's too bad I don't have sound on the first one, there was much squawking from Beauty and Little Boy, maybe Dot.CA. Then the woman explained that the brooms were to protect her and not necessarily hit the birds. When she opened the door to the nest she was speaking in her Mommy Voice and was glad that he was nearby and she wasn't going to have to chase him all over the nest.

Oh I love it mommy voice I just looked at some pictures of the Flint falcons when they got bands and you coould see the one lady there looking as excited as a child and they said she was talking to the baby to calm it I'll bet it was the mommy voice also SWEET

Suzanne, thank so much for making and posting those banding videos. I saw bits & pieces of this but was at work so I couldn't just watch. I did see the lady who got our little boy out of the box smiling at him so that made me feel good that he was handled by someone who was kind & gentle with him.

Thanks also to Kris G and Carly for the links to banding pictures & info

Our baby's name is official-ORION! :hapdance:

Orion is the constellation of "The Hunter" who watches over Rochester's winter skies and is one of the most recognizable constellations.
