Just a quick question for all you experts. Are we assuming Beauty's other egg is not viable?

It is interesting to read the opinions on the differences of feedings of multi-chick nests vs. single-chick nests. :think It all makes perfect sense to me, and I'm not as worried anymore about this little one.

I think that's it. To me, I don't see the mutual affection between these 2. I see Beauty viewed as a breeder and a means to an end (offspring). I think in this bond, Dotca is the boss, or thinks he is.

I think Dotca's real (mutual affection) bond is with Pigott.

Oh well. I'm not saying he's not a good Dad, because he has been excellent and as I've already pointed out, he has EXCELLENT instincts when it comes to incubation, feeding, etc...

Either way, this little one has excellent genes.

I think you're right. There's more affection being shown to Pigott with echupping, food gifts and whatever else that goes on than has been ever shown to B. I've admired B since she came to Rochester and would love for her to have a devoted mate but it just never seems to be in the cards for her. DC's a good dad but the bond with B just doesn't seem to be there.

I think it is still from that messy feed that I saw back a bit.

SGB, go back to yesterday and see what this little one looked like right after the feeding. Blood all over the place. It aint pretty, but at least it is getting fed. Love that full crop! thanks for the video Anca!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The antics of these two.

I'm cracking up this morning seeing the updates. I'm convinced this has to do with the fact DC needs to be the provider. If he delivers food, no problem. If B brings in the food and he's on duty, he takes it each time (or what seems like each time). If we have a repeat of yesterday, he will return several times with food, but won't make a delivery until he can feed. Maybe he thinks it is his baby since he was on duty with she hatched?

Dotca really wants to feed and care for this little one, which is great. Amazing to see a first time Dad so involved in Baby's care.
