This is one smart baby! He/she has already managed to move out of the hot sun and into the shade at the back of the box. (But then, I wouldn't expect anything less from a baby with Beauty and DotCa as parents.)

Couple of hours ago I saw Beauty 'hauling' the chick back to brood with the egg but its a stubborn little one,it wants it seems to be at the back of the nestbox. Must be so hot there.Perhaps it doesn't need to be under Beauty ?
Has the chick had any food yet ? Or Beauty ? :egg8:

( had severe storm here too,had to switch off all cams etc;)

Chick just topppled on his back.. :egg14: Beauty is trying to feed anyway.
16:48 Up again,feeding continues. Beauty is making chuckk ing noises to encourage.
16:54 Chick got some good bits of food. Now Beauty has flown off with the prey.

Glad your temps are cooling down & also those in Rochester, Carly. It is still hot here but isn't to be quite as hot tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for the great pics & for the video, Carolyn! I saw Dot at Great River move one of her chicks that way last year. Of course, Beauty's chick had moved to the back of the box again a short time later.

Carmac, to answer your question about food, the baby was also fed very early this morning & those who saw the feed said the chick ate very well! :girlluv:
