R goes out and M comes up to wrung with prey. R takes it and she is off. M goes in box and right to kids and dummy feeds them

R comes back with food and M leaves. All 3 being fed that I can see.little one in back needs to get up there more. One thing Gord told me, that as long as there is food they all get fed. the bigger ones will have their fill an d then the littlest will get its turn.

there does not appear to be a shortage of food

5:28pm
Feed is over

I will post a few slide shows after but the male , so far, is exceeding my expectations.

He is bringing food right to nest, he is covering the kids, and he is staying in box when R is one.
What a turn around since eggs hatched. He just did not like the eggs.

these eggs are K97,s so his chicks will carry on his legacy. I do believe he is still alive though. the fighting did not appear too aggressive, that we saw. But I guess it could have been more aggressive elsewhere.

I think I would like to call this male Chase. Because R had to chase him back into box all the time , to get him to stay, before kids were hatched

Bev - Thanks for the great slide show and all the great pictures. The news here just keeps getting better and better, and the little chicks keep getting cuter and cuter!

P.S. I like your suggestion of calling the new male "Chase." Radisson has done a great job of training him, don't you think?

I like the name, Chase, too. :egg 19: He must have needed to see the babies moving to kick his instincts into gear.

Clinical

my new grandsons name is Chase but I thought of that afterwards. Radisson is doing a great job of training him. And when we all watched her chase him back to the box so many times to keep him doing his job, I thought what a great name.

i take one day at a time . It is supposed to rain there today, we have rain here already.

I will out and in today, keeping as much watch as possible

A feed is going on. R is in front of kids so cannot see them-all, but they all seem to be getting a good feed. I did not see start

M flew onto outside wrung. I love how he comes in and checks, then he took off

I think they are all full and R is eating. they fell over they were so full :egg11: and R was still trying to stuff them

7:30 and feed over and R took prey out

7:31 R back in and chicks shuggled under her

Pictures coming

Note

I do not see 4th egg and so now I am going to comment. I have been keeping this in. Unless there is a really small chick we cannot see, I was pretty sure I watched one hatch but did not make it. I was watching and watching, but it was hard to see . I do not report what I do not know for sure, but I think this happened. I did mention to Gord when I phoned him, that the view of cam is not so good and if it was right in box I could have seen for sure

Edit to add:

WE knew that hatches may not be perfect as R had to go into full incubation after first egg. this causes eggs to hatch out at different times , meaning different days. So we had one hatch a day. Not unexpected, and that is one reason we were watching so closely.( just one of many reasons)

AT most sites, 2 to 3 eggs will hatch on same day and last one next day. then chicks are not too far apart.Better chance of surviving.

rain has started there and wind so she will have to keep chicks covered

Out to finally grocery shop. I think Peter will appreciate that.
If anyone notices a feed or anything important , please post :egg17:

Your theory about the last egg sounds logical, bev. It was not meant to be.

Radisson on chicks right now, keeping them warm after the rain. Just now got a chance to look at this site, so I do not know if I just missed a feed.

just got home and will be looking for Chase.

Jean said R went out and came back with a huge prey, that did not seem dead yet. this happened the other day as well, but Chase was on chicks when R was out.

Hope all is O.K.

I just noticed the prey on right side. I guess Chase dropped this off when he came in. It was so quick.
