I am just sick here with worry. Hope that R has been in. she is one not to trust humans.

so if you see a feed etc, please post.

I feel sorry for our remaining chick. Must wonder where siblings are. It was quite cozy with one of them.

But I have a few fires ot put out in my life also, so I will watch a bit tonight and I hope things are good tomorrow.

I know R will across at Maz, just waiting for bad people and they will be back tomorrow. Poor girl, If she only realized , it was for her good.

Bev, thanks for the report and the great pics. .

Frounce .. our worse nightmare. . I am so sorry to hear that. .but, I just pray it was caught in time. The fact that they were still able to eat food I am going to take as a positive sign. I am glad that Gord went ahead and treated this little one. . and we'll keep close watch on him. . he's in the box right now, preening. .I'll keep the cam up and an eye out for the Mr. and Mrs. .

Have not seen a a parent come in yet, but I could have missed it. I do hope that Radisson or Chase do a feeding soon. Poor little chick must feel pretty lonely without his siblings.

I've been checking on and off as well and haven't seen a parent. .but, I did see the little one do a little self feeding and had a really good poop shot!! It looks like a pretty decent crop to me too, but I'm like you, Bev. , I'm not trusting what I see any more either. . I don't think I've seen frounce up close in chicks this young, so I have no clue what to look for. When the chick was sick in HBG several years ago, it was very obvious. .and I don't remember how old the Great River or Jersey chicks were when they got it. . I believe it was too late for the jersey chicks, but if I remember correctly, the GR chicks were treated and returned to the box. . (or did I dream that). .everything starts running together after a while. . grrrrr. .

Get some rest ladies ..

Thank-you to all you wonderful people here that are so supportive, when things at our sites do not go well.

thank-you Carly for catching that feed. I knew the parents would not dessert him but they are suspicious here and Chase will follow Radissons lead.

Unfortunately they have to be disturbed today again so Gord can clean the box and do precautionary treatment of chick. this could not be done yesterday becasue none of us had nay idea this was a s bad as it was and gravel etc. was not brought up.

I will be gone for most of day after 10am . But I know this chick will have to be monitored.

in case you missed it in Elaine s pot the band on the remaining chick is

D/08.

I keep looking back on pictures and their crops were always full. but I guess they were pooping it all out and the flatflies were sucking on them also. I guess I cannot keep beating myself up about this and because one was so much bigger, we assumed it was female.

Well, now we take care of this one.

Chick is laying down in the front corner of the nestbox. I am glad that a feeding was observed this morning, or else I would be really worried. I keep refreshing the cam, but no sign of Radisson or Chase yet. I keep thinking of Chase yesterday when we were there, he was so bewildered and he just did not know what to do with himself. He watched to see what Radisson did, but this was not reassuring for him. He is very young, and I am sure he had never had contact with humans before.

Just woke up from a nap and see the nest box is cleaned out? Did anyone catch it? See baby with something there that likely Gord left?

I think he has not been there yet. This looks to me like the same piece of food that was left in the nestbox yesterday, it was the body of poor tern whose time was up, I guess. Of course I may have missed him, too; I can't tell if the nestbox is cleaner.

I just read what's happened at this nest & its a very sad situation. :egg15: However, Bev & Susan, please don't beat yourselves up over not recognizing what was happening. I don't know that you could know--maybe things didn't look quite right, but no 2 nests are the same. When Blue in Harrisburg a couple of years had trich, we knew he wasn't able to eat much, so he didn't have a full crop as these boys did. I don't know that any of us would have suspected trich when they were apparently eating well. You do what you can, but sometimes Mother Nature has a plan & it doesn't matter what we do. Prayers that all these little ones survive & become healthy...

Just saw your post, Carly, & what wonderful news!
:egg5:
