This kid is quite a character. Nothing he is doing seems very conventional. I am sure Bev is wondering if he plans to fledge backwards.

You got that right!!! I've got lots of pics I'll post in a few.

Currently, Dad is in the box and "Jr" has discovered the netting. Because of the refresh rate, it almost looks like he's on a trampoline. . He's totally out of cam view now. .

Hi Folks. Mr. Bev is back again for another year. Bev is at the Fledgewatch as I am writing this. She just called and advised that this morning the adults started doing flybys with food to entice the little fellow. Radison finally brought the food in to the nestbox. Eventually Chase went in and grabbed the food and flew over to College Plaza with Radison chasing and giving him whatfor for stealing the food. I see that someone posted that the young fellow is on the netting. Bev says that he has been back and forth and is presently on the netting again. He finally ventured out of the box. He seems to be doing very well and even though Chase steals his food, He is well fed.

I will be posting from time to time for Bev as I am at work and she calls me with updates. As I am at work and I don't know all the ins and outs of posting pictures (something I may learn when I retire in September) you won't get any pics from me, but I'm sure Bev will have some when she posts in the evening. She will be at the nest site every day till about 4:30 PM which is when I go from work and take over for her and let her go home and get some rest.

Cheers
Mr. Bev (Pete)

Great screen caps, everyone. This kid has way too much fluff left on him to be thinking about flying. :sunno:

I, I wish I had the pictures Peter said I would post  .I was there by myself till 10am so I do not take camera from car when I am. If I have to run , it is too heavy. then it just got too darn hot.

this guy is just gorgeous through the scope( Peter set it up when he got there). He is one noisy little guy.
thank-you for all the posts. Those pictures really help me. Because the second time he went on netting we could not see him, I thought he was at the back and went up in Maz to check but view was not there.

The netting is not great this year. that cam post has messed it up so fingers crossed.

R is flying past with food and Chase is doing fly bys dipping and doodling , to show the young guy what to do. Chase probably remembers when he did this as he is not that old himself.

I do not know if you noticed but if there was food left in box Chase was taking it out and eating it himself. R was mighty ticked with him. and flew right after him and gave him a good chupping session.

the juvie is raring to go but I do not think he is strong enough yet. he is sure flapping and helicoptering.

A red tailed hawk dared to venture into the territory and was sorry for it . They chased after and gave it a couple o f good hits. Now being as I like hawks also, I was telling him to high tail it out of there. But to see R in action is something else.

We had a new couple turn up this afternoon and they were so thrilled to see a falcon . "they had never seen one in real life before and so when it chased the hawk they were really enthralled.

It is so hot. I wanted heat but not this. and bless Jean. she came down with watermelon and fresh water. We think need a portable toilet there also

My report is not very exciting but I ma wasted so I will sign off. I left Peter Bob and Carol there.

night all

Excellent report, bev. I was right there with you. Please take care of yourself. The birds will do most of the work. Don't worry about posting photos.

First, thanks to all the talented screen capturers for keeping me informed over the past several weeks. I look in several times a day. Carol and I just got back from the U of A watch. We had a quiet evening. A couple of fly-bys by the adults and some flapping by the young feller. He spent a small amount of time on the netting just before we left. Lots of people stopped by to ask questions. Like Bev said, it was hot. Temp here was a record high for July 9th: +32.4 or better. Exactly the same forecast for tomorrow. Though the falcons looked cool up where they were, we on the ground needed lots of hydration. Thanks, Jean, for the watermelon slices. Peter moved up to the roof of the parkade as we were leaving. Temp was a cooler +29 according to the car.
