The problem with this place is that they are working on the waterhousen and that they will not stop with that the next time. So if there will be a breeding, it is hard to say if there will be little falcons.

Poor little darlings, they will never be able to nest with all that going on.

Maybe Ferenz can give it a good translate in Englisch

Here are some information from Bocholt.
I am active in the Bocholt NABU (nature protection federation) and strive not only now, but for many weeks that the Bocholt peregrine falcons receive a spare accomodation for the breeding season 2012. There are only few buildings, which are suitable for it. The owners often make difficulties.

I am in contact with Dr. Peter Wegner, chairman of the AG peregrine falcon protection, North Rhine-Westfalia. On 22.02. I and a member of the AG peregrine falcon protection will try a new attempt to installing a substitute nest box for the peregrine falcons at a church into 500 meters distance (see Webcam 4).

If that would be possible, the water tower should be closed immediately, so that the peregrine falcons, which know the church well, accept the new nest box. The construction measures at the water tower should be terminated already in autumn 2011. Demands of the office for monument have caused many delays, so that the construction measures at the protected architectural monument are still continuing for some months. We heard that only at the beginning of January 2012.

Since then we strive for a spare accomodation. We have great concerns about the peregrine falcons (Bella and Amadeus), which had risen already 13 chicks in 4 years! Many greetings from Bocholt! Sorry, unfortunately I don't speak dutch.

Ernst

WOW. . .thanks for that information, coriena and ferenz.. this is a mess.. poor falcons. I hope something can be done and done very soon. . even placing a nestbox elsewhere will not guarantee that the falcons will even use it. what a bummer!!!

Thanks so much for the information and translation. I hope that they can get the nestbox relocated immediately, otherwise there will be no hope. Sounds like somebody there cares and is making an effort to help them. I hate it when something like this happens to our precious falcons.

A good message! Today, we have visited the tower of the Liebfrauenkirche. Obove of the Liebfrauen-Kirchturm inside both peregrine falcons from the Wasserturm were present!!! They defeathered a dove exactly at that place where we have got the permission to install a new nest box on Saturday (25.02.). Therefore we guess that the falcons will accept the new nest box, which I've built. It will be installed obove the clock of the church tower which you can see in web cam picture 4. By now I can't say whether we are allowed to installing a web cam there. Having installed the new nest box on Liebfrauenkirche the entrance of the water tower nest box will be locked up.

Thanks for the info Ferenz. Boy I sure hope that all goes well for these special falcons. Too bad we won't get to watch them though.

Also nice shot of the Ensdorf pair with the one below. :thumbup

Bocholt ...
I translated some of the text from Ferenz's link...

~~Today, the two peregrine falcons from Bocholt water tower was already in front of us at the new temporary quarters, which lies within sight of the water tower. A freshly captured seagull and many prey remains from the past, testified to the frequent presence of peregrine falcons there. They circled us a long time, when we got the nesting box with new gravel bed in the morning there assembled.
The water tower was closed at noon for the peregrine falcon.

So they accepted the new temp. box for 2012...Correct Ferenz :)
You got terrific captures (!) :girlyes:
No webcam for 2012 ~ will we know the outcome of the nesting season 2012?
