:1val: Bev, go above to post I did on March 10th @ 5:43 where I posted a video by EC of a meal done the previous day when Spur was just 1 day old and even though bonking, you will be so pleased and surprised with the outcome! :10val: (Unless you've already done so.)

Dandy and Spur are doing okay. They were popping up from the bole earlier and EC went close in. There's a large moth or something else flying about the nest worrying everyone to death this eve!

:15heartbeat: All are doing well here!! This morning there is rain and parents are so soggy-looking. A couple nights or so ago, I watched as Nic or Vic (thought Nic, but couldn't tell for sure) being attacked by the palm leaves blowing in the wind and conking him in the head and about while he brooded. He was very indignant @ the leaves "gall", but quickly attempted to put them in their place by grabbing them 1 by 1 with his beak and forcing/embedding them to the floor of the nest, while he remained brooding in the bole!! Nic is the 1 who brought them to the nest about 4-5 days ago and here is a photo by Eagle Country of Nic proudly atop his interior decorations:

:16val: Today a Squirrel came to the nest while Victoria was feeding and she had to wing slap for several minutes till the squirrel finally left the area. "Victoria Wards Off Fox Squirrel" by Eagle Country:

:15heartbeat: Really tight view from cam 1 right now. Victoria just completed a very, long feed and both got bites. At 1 point you can see Nic there too. They sure are growing!!

I watched a few feeds today. Dandy when awake and/or hungry is very much in control of feeds with the bonking. Spur when getting a private feed takes cover as soon as he sees Dandy's head raise! Spur is noticeably smaller, but is hanging in there for now. I still remember Spur's 1st day when he bonked Dandy right back, but he is no longer doing that. Between the private feeds, dual feeds or bites when Dandy is down with a food coma, Spur is thriving! Will be glad when this period is over. I know there was much concern for Spur on chat yesterday as he did not get much to eat until late in the day, but that has improved today! It is very windy there right now. Vic and Nic are doing a great job!!

Caught the end of a feed awhile ago. Dandy was getting all the bites as Spur was in submission when I came in. Spur raised it's head once, but Dandy even though it had it's back to Spur, turned around and bonked Spur several times about the neck and back and Spur immediately went down again. But not to worry, chat is reporting Spur has eaten several times today and has a crop.

:15heartbeat: They are coming along here. The bonking by Dandy to Spur continues, sometimes even when they are not being fed. But, I did see Spur do a double PS earlier today and saw him attempt to self-feed. EC reports he picks up bits to eat from the nest that have dropped, gets private feeds when Dandy is in a food coma, sometimes there are dual feeds, etc. Eagle Country took down chat this weekend for awhile.

I may not get this exactly right, but enough you'll get the gist of it. I watched them for quite some time. When I first came in, I found Dandy standing in profile on the left side of the nest with a humongous crop. In time, she went down on the nest and appeared to sleep. Spur was curled in a ball of submission more toward the right of the nest. I think it is Nic, with them, but not sure. I can see spots on the head. Spur finally raised his head and was crying for food. He does not have a crop. When Nic moved on the nest toward the food to start a feed with Spur, Dandy immediately stood (even though Spurs cries had not catapulted her into action) and came over and bonked Spur into submission. Nic began to feed himself and Dandy, but just a small feed. Eventually Dandy was settled again. Spur rose and attempted to self feed on the fish that was left. Nic went over to feed and it's the same scenario. Dandy even positioned herself between Spur and Nic and covered part of the fish. Spur is still getting some bonks when feed is not going on. When things settled and Dandy went back to the left side, Spur again tried to feed off the remains of the meal. And this is repeating and repeating. I just went back in and Spur is facing us, but partially on the rails now and in submission with Dandy behind him and Nic is trying to feed again. Spur is looking toward the food even though his head is down and he is being bonked by Dandy. You can tell he really wants it. I am concerned that Dandy may knock Spur over the rails in her zest to keep him in submission. It is hard to look and hard not to look! I will be so glad when this phase is over and hoping Spur can continue to hold his own, in the meantime ...

Edit to add: I am going to hang out a little longer. Dandy is headed to the left of the nest, but I am concerned that Spur has his leg hung in between the rails. :sum9: Nope, it's out and Spur is getting a private feed!! Now Dandy is back standing directly behind Spur, but just looking ... they are near the rails on the right now. Spur is gulping it down and you can hear little squees!! Spur is getting a crop!! The feed is over and Dandy is collapsed on the front of the nest and Spur is standing with his back to us on the right. :spring1:

Their chat remains closed and I imagine it will remain so until the bonking phase is over. I do not know if they are having troubles with FB comments.

Hi Eagle Country Friends! We understand and recognize it has been difficult to watch the bonking unfold. We are all hoping for the best. That being said, we have to continually remember that this is a “wild” nature cam and unpredictable at best.

We encourage you to read our full “Friendly Warning to Viewers” statement on our site here: https://eaglecountry.net/livecams/ Also, per the U.S. FWS, intervention is not allowed and nature will simply take its course. They state, “The Service will not issue a permit that authorizes interference with the natural course of events at the eagle nest.”

Thanks for watching and if it gets too tough, as stated in our reminder, simply turn the channel and come back later. We love having you all with us in the nest!

It does get difficult to watch sometimes, but I am thankful for all opportunities afforded me to peek inside their world. :flirty:
