:15heartbeat: At 4:30 on the DVR Ma got up for feed and struggled some with footing and balance. It was difficult to watch. A slight misstep to B13 with no harm done. Eventually she was able to eat and she fed B12. B13 continues to gain strength and may have received a partial bite, but I do not know for sure. I am having troubles this eve with the "circle" and had to view both cams to make sense of things. At 5:25 Pa comes in for her break. She returned @ 5:42 with nesting materials and Pa left. She ate more of her fish and then began feeding B12. Eventually B13 attempts to eat and is able to hold his head up enough to try quickly for a bite, before going down again. She made several attempts and he may have been able to get a piece of the piece, if you know what I mean. I'm thinking we will see him "eat for sure" tomorrow!!

Ma got up to feed B12 a few minutes ago, but I did not see B13 move. I know he is sluggish to get going initially sometimes, but I am concerned. Going back to cam 2 to DVR to see again. It was a short feed as Pa came in to relieve Ma.

Okay, I've reviewed twice and it did move quickly once. I am even questioning if it was actually B13 being fed, instead of B12 as the one being still @ the bottom of bole in a heap looks bigger than the one eating just above. Sorry, have to wait till next view of chicks to check on things more.

Okay you all. I had wifi problems and my computer gets sluggish and I've corrected that. I may have been correct in my initial thought of 1 not moving. Period I am talking about is from 7:08-7:16. The feed I thought was short was actually longer than I realized d/t my problems with the wifi. When I saw movement @ 7:10:07 it was darker then and movement may have been from other chick leaning against. In subsequent views on cam 2 I saw movement @ 7:09:07 approx, but may have been other chick causing to move again. Ma has since returned and I have to go back on DVR to view as we may have lost one of the chicks here. Sorry this has been so bumbled on my part.

:sorrow: I am afraid my initial reaction was true. Probably B13. You know what you see initially, but your heart does not want it to be true. The 2nd view is from 7:58-8:04. Sorry this took so long for me to report on. My heart is broken as I know yours will be. I have to leave for now ...

very hard thing to take when attached but I worried about this rain and the long time it was taking for B13 to hatch. Ma and Pa are stellar and nature has its way. so much sadness, but let us concentrate on them getting through this weather with B12 . Nature is not cruel, it is just nature.

I am heartbroken but on the other side of the coin, it will be easier for Ma. will pray fo r this family and hugs to all who love it here. :loveheart: I will be lurking

Pa was on duty for a couple hours and I saw him feed B12 toward the end of that period. Ma came back around noon and stayed on the branch about 10'. They were quiet during that time and Pa got partially up and tugged B13's head upward and I thought he was going to remove him @ first, but he did not. Ma eventually went down to nest and called very softly and Pa got up and left. She then prepped for brooding and tucked B13 down toward B12. Ma is on duty and it has been raining for awhile again. Berry is aware of situation, but has not commented last I have seen. I just went back in and @ 12:20 Ma is up and repositioning and working on nest bole. As she does this, B12's head is draped over her left talon and as she moves she is bringing B12 up the bole some. It has happened a few times here since hatched where you find B12 further up the nest bole than you would expect. Ma did get B12 back down more. It happened @ about 12:20 on cam 1. I hope Pa does remove B13 from the nest or bury's him somewhere else on the nest so B12 can get to and stay more at the bottom of the bole. It is not Ma's fault, just the circumstances of the hook-like effect of her talon.

Berry College Eagles
We are heartbroken to report that B13 has died. Our eagle experts are trying to determine what happened and have been in contact with both federal and state authorities. We must keep in mind that this is not an uncommon occurrence in many eagle nests.

We also must be guided by what is best for B12 and the parents. If we tried to intervene, we could risk injury to the eaglet, its parents, or even nest abandonment.

These scenes may be disturbing to young children and other sensitive individuals. It is possible that one of the parents may consume the body or move it to the side of the nest where it would decompose.

Please remember that viewing wild animals in their environment can be difficult at times for humans to watch.

B12 is settling down now. Ma has fed B12 @ least twice in the last hour or so. B12 is setting up higher in the bole now as B13 and nesting materials are below. I've noticed Ma's left talon catches some of the nesting materials when she comes off the bole and she tries to get it off, but it falls where it falls sometimes. This and the heavy rains have collapsed it some I believe. Pa arrived with a nice fish and leaves a few minutes ago!! Oh and I forgot to tell you he fed Ma a couple morsels from the squirrel! :flirty:

A few minutes ago, Pa was back again with a big clump of fresh nesting materials that Ma distributed in front and around her!! :flirty:

I just quickly checked. it is heartbreaking, but hopefully rain will stop soon and they can fix things up.
up[setting to see some remarks by some. Ma and Pa have done a great job in this weather. mom does fine with that foot. I am just so in awe of her. but truthfully, I would be gimp in that weather. :girlyes:

when rain stops, they can deal with B13. dad continues to hunt and he brought in all those grasses a bi t ago. glad it covered some of the prey, as there will be hungry eagles, when this lets up.

thanks Swink for keeping up. :loveheart: I have to take step back for a bit, but will check in
