Thanks Loza...this is such a fun nest to watch.
7 weeks old this weekend. The kids are so aware of anything flying overhead...tracking the sky and watching intently. Perhaps Romeo was soaring above with a flight lesson. Inside the nest, Juliet was obsessed with allopreening the eaglets. She would gaze at their backs, cock her head, and crane her neck as she gave each eaglet a visual inspection. When she saw something out of place, she moved in to preen. Sky didn't seem to mind. Even when Juliet lifted the eaglet's wing repeatedly as she pulled feathers through her beak. However, Spirit did not like it one bit. At one point, Spirit snapped at Juliet to get her to stop and then looked a little sheepish after doing so. Don't bite the beak that feeds you. The kids are growing so fast and will be branching before we know it. Today, I noticed Juliet ambling up one of the tree trunks supporting the nest to a perching spot and I had the distinct feeling she was showing the kids a safe route out of the nest. She is a terrific Mom. Such a marvel to watch.
