5/20 CROW Update: Condition upgraded to guarded. Fracture site, pin placement looks good.
Moving to a soft solids diet.
Encouraged that E8 bears weight on leg and uses foot and claw normal fashion
- indicates normal nerve function.
5/20 8:15pm E7 eat Crow

Yesterday evening, E7 had enough of a crow's pestering and took matters into his/her own talons! Grabbing the crow & making it dinner! A first for the eaglet!

Here is an awesome video of E7 getting pestered, getting ticked off, taking off and then returning with her prize.

I notice that E7 still sleeps in the same spot she was in when the owl attacked. You never know, owl could be next on the menu.

The latest from CROW's FB page regarding eaglet E8’s condition. Includes a picture of our feisty E8. :loveshow:

“E8 continues to show signs of improvement. This morning the eaglet was bright and alert during surgical wound care cleaning and blood work. E8 ate some herring fillets on its own yesterday and weighs approximately 8.5 pounds. The eaglet was fully standing this morning and vocalizing after treatment. E8 remains in guarded condition.

We will have another update on Wednesday.”

5/25 UPDATE: E8's condition upgraded to fair. Eating semi-soft fish/meat. Standing on injured leg but not perching on it. Blood abnormalities back to normal. :7val:

CROW FB update (approx. 11:15am)

E8 UPDATE: E8 continues to be bright, alert, responsive and using the right leg in a normal fashion. The eaglet is being fed whole prey items such as mice and chicks, but is not eating on its own and requires assisted feedings of fish fillets. E8 continues to gain weight and currently weighs a little over 8 lb.

The next update will be this Tuesday when E8 is scheduled for radiographs (x-rays) and blood work. We will also be answering some of your questions next week regarding leg banding and how to identify E8's gender.

Below is a video of E8 receiving wound care earlier this week.

CROW update from their FB page and Eagleholic.

"E8 continues to improbe since having surgery on May 14 to repair a broken femur in the right leg. The eaglet is perching, vocalizing and gaining strength. Over the weekend E8 ate a little on his own but still requires some assistance during feeding. Blood work came back normal and this week the eaglet is expected to be moved to an outside enclosure where it will have more room to build its strength and spread its wings."
