I saw them mating a couple times.
I saw the video of the pair of owls in nest.
She wanted to keep the nest for herself I suspect.

AGAIN with the Owl Pair in the nest

Great Horned Owls are known to drive eagles off their nests so they can claim the nest for themselves.

F23 and M15 continue to build their bond and nest. She did not leave with her fish today, she stayed on nest to eat it.
The owls have been night visitors but I do not think they were there last night

Both M15and F23 were struck by owl last night. F23 had 2 hits . Fb says there were a few off cam, but do not know how you would know, if off cam. But our pair remained on alert. This morning they look fine.
We know this will continue to happen, but I think egg is close

Judging by the videos of the owl pair BOTH visiting nest repeatedly, I believe they REALLY want this nest for themselves. Pity our eagles have to deal with them.

last few nights , male has brought prey gift and had to call for female owl and she flew in but flew off prey. I think she is close to eggs at their nest
bunny transfer from male to female
vidoecompliments of lady hawk

this has been a thing for a few years now at this site.
We have always had to deal with the hits. I think this year it was noticed more as we have a new female who is young, but I am glad to see she is not wavering.

EAGLE n OWLS
November 14, 2023
I DO NOT KNOW WHATs HAPPENED - BUT SOMETHING HAS.
WHAT is in nest under Lady? ( not egg )

Mr. Owl came on branch - hooted
Lady dropped into nest from a branch
Did owl knock her off? Head injury?

Their nest cam is useless - BIG ole branch blocks it. :taz:

GHO strikes F23 THREE Times!

Everything is fine here. Shep :leafthumb:
Lady hawks videos are great but look at times on screens as she dates on videos are just the dates she posts them , not when actually happened .
I thought I had posted the owl strikes the other day. Maybe put in wrong place. I watch this nest every day, just have not had time to post pictures etc. Sorry.

The owls have been returning to nest but not staying since the night F23 stayed at nest. She is a trooper

That was M15 in nest , during early morning hours . Both had come back to tree around 3amish. I had watched the 2 owls come back just after dark but bothers flew off and did not go into nest. I think they are close to eggs also and so strikes should stop soon and then start again after eggs hatched
M15 was hit and tried to land in nest and missed but came back.
I believe he is making sure no owls come into nest. F23 was in nest bole for a bit. Both eagles flew off later last night and were not far away.
Both are Ok.

As for cam, can’t help that eagles built up side where cam is but there are 2 other cams and when cam op is watching they can be turned.

We are just seeing owls a bit more than before , I think , as possibly because new female here and so spending night in tree later than usual .

I think egg is near

Now I will go and see where I posted my video etc of owl strikes other night.

Owls are always part of this nest
Edit to add it was very windy lastnight
Nice mating this morning

The difference Shep, is: Harriet roosted here. She loved this nest . F23 roosts elsewhere and so M15 roosts with her. As one of the moderators, I trust dearly said: Hopefully F23 will come to love this nest as much and choose to roost here also.
So the tree is not occupied all night as it has been previously. Which makes it more inviting for the owls
I just watched a great video from 360 cam. M15 did come in to protect nest from owl and Chase it off. Owl attacked him, of nest. M15 came back to nest and then took off after owl. When he came back in, he got tangled in some branches on rail and flew off. He came back and settled in bowl
So I think was good because I think the owls got a warning, they needed.

I will try and pos t video later. I watched the cams myself, but missed some things. So the video filled that in
So fingerscrossed, as I think egg is near
