Now someone is saying a rusty fish hook with line attached ... I can not zoom this pic ... and can't tell ... but if this is a hook ... how about the 12 and 1 o'clock positions ... I just don't know ... can you all tell?

Judy Miller-Rogers shared a page.
2 hrs ·
5:25 EST: At Harriet and M's nest, E8 is tightly entangled in what I believe to be wire leader line (fishing equipment). It's wrapped at least twice around his left folded wing. Authorities have been notified and are monitoring the situation. He will be rescued if he cannot free himself. I very seriously doubt he can free himself from this. frown emoticon He is being fed.
See this page as details develop. Note: there are some reports that it is moss trapping E8. IT MOST DEFINITELY IS NOT MOSS; I SAW THE WIRE AND I KNOW FISHING LEADER WIRE.

My question how long do they plan on waiting?

From mod and please look @ capture I posted link to above:

Jeannius, to the best of my knowledge no one knows what E8's leg is tangled up with. I know some are saying it is hook, but I don't think that is confirmed. It might just be dark moss - which has been mistaken for a hook in past years.

From SWINWK: @ this point I agree with the mod. Please comment on what you all think. And I saw a struggle with it's leg, not wing.

when these things happen , there are always some who jump the gun. The mods are carefully looking at every picture they can. they have been zooming in and turning cam to try and get a glimpse. that is why they have good moderators, that keep their cool and try to stop panic.

I thought it looked like some straw or moss also and I thought it was the leg. but ???????

So I am not watching as I have no stomach for anything like this.

I just remember when I helped monitor the Sidney nest on Vancouver Island a few years back. There were a few of us who were the offical monitors. One young one had fishing line around its neck. When we could ID it, David Hancock got a cherry picker truck, and they retrieved the eaglet, took off fishing line , checked it out and then returned it to nest.

It is probably still in their archives . So it can be done. Process did not take long.
so it is good not to surmise as I did above. for those who can, just watch and see if you can get a good pciutre and send it to the mods. They are watching .

But I hope it is not wire.
Fingers are crossed

thanks Swink for the updates

all of us want a banner year this year. :loveheart: :loveheart: :loveheart:

I do not know if this was posted. got from Hancock site.

I watched a few times. Does not appear to be hook. I can see how some thought it was but to me the curved reddish thing is just some of the nesting material. He can move . If given enough space, and maybe H and M dig around and get that nesting material out, he may be able to get free. just my thoughts.
He will be in my prayers tonight. He is just tired. takes a lot out of one and is stressful.

Thanks for all the coverage here...I've tried checking out the vids and the pics, both here, on FB and elsewhere...it looks like fishing line to me. I hope not as that stuff can cut off circulation. I sure hope he can wiggle free, but my fear is the more he pulls the tighter it gets!!

How many times have we seen something like this, especially in osprey nest...geeeeeeez...If they are gonna intervene, I sure hope they don't drag their feet. It can't be an easy task putting a bucket truck in there or finding a climber...

When I checked in at 6:00 this morning, E8 was sitting up and looked bright-eyed and alert. Unfortunately his (or her) left foot is still tangled.

E8 is the one at the top, facing left. E7 is at the bottom facing Mom.

Left leg seems not entangled anymore, but feet might be swollen?

Nope - I don't get it either, Swinwk.
(Personally, I have trouble watching/seeing/observing with the new camera angle - I know - it is what it is :girlcrazy: )

It sounds like purpleeagle is saying that E7 is NOT stuck..

If E8 is still stuck, with that swollen foot, it seems to me if they want to save this baby, they better do it now.
