Take a look at these pictures from the Salt Lake City fledge watch--in particular, the last picture that shows a guy wearing a safety vest holding a juvie. I think it would be a good idea for the Harrisburg watchers to wear these vests when they're doing a watch, cause when they have to run out in traffic for a rescue, people will decide they're doing something important & aren't just some crazy person. That's just my take on it--it would also add more heat to the layers of clothing, but I wanted to mention it.

Interesting thought about the safety vests, Nancy. That's something we've talked about already. We've been very lucky the past couple years that most of the critical action of fledging has happened on weekends when there's less traffic.

The man holding Solo is Bob Walters who works for the state in the Division of Natural Resources. He's our official falcon guy. There are even signs in the downtown area by the building where the nest box is located that say "Falcon Bird Watch area- Prepare to Stop"

Reenie your pictures are just wonderful of our day yesterday. I won't even put any on that I have, as they would not be what you do to make the pictures excellent. They were extremely hard to see , but your pictures show otherwise and that is wonderful. Cropping is such a great tool. And I love that they rotate. Have to learn more about all that some day!

SGB the pictures in Salt Lake are great too. Hope the Juvie is alright and Fledges well soon.

We are having one storm after another again. Don't know what this is all about. We lucked out yesterday with the beautiful day!!

Edit: I took 202 pictures. Will post some that are NOT Falcon's on Facebook!

Missed seeing the two juvies a bit ago, but one is still up there working on the prey next to the stick.

Ljames, you are amazing! I think it's White on the point, maybe Blue now semi-pancaked, and not sure about the third one.

Wow, in an instant, all three juvies took off. Wonder if there's an adult with food somewhere nearby. I'd love to go down there after dinner tonight if the storms hold off.

Faith, we went to Wilmington today to go tubing on the Brandywine River and got shut out due to lightning. My lovely spouse got to visit with her twin sister though, so all was not lost. We ate our picnic lunch in her sun room. No sun to be seen though, just rain and lightning. They had trees come down in Wednesday's storm. Quite a mess. Got back home to York and sun. Oh, well.

Well, I can see should have stayed downtown less than five minutes more. Got down a little after 7. Saw nothing that looked like a falcon for a while, and then two juvies came flying in from the direction of the church down on Second Street. Another followed shortly afterwards. They were flying above me on the garage roof, but then kind of went their separate ways. One eventually landed on this pipe thing over on the roof of PA Place, but before that it was after some prey. Found another one on the back corner of 333. Needed to use the restroom, so went into the train station. I could see that on the way over to the station the juvie on PA Place had flown while I was going over there. Went back to the garage roof, and eventually saw a falcon fly over the Hilton towards City Island, but have no idea where it went. Looked all around, and I found Niecey sitting on top of what was probably an elevator shaft on a bank building down on Second Street across from the Hilton. Never saw a falcon sitting there before. At 8:30 I decided to give up, but watched the juvie on the top of 333 a bit to see if it returned to the ledge. It didn't, so I got in my car and left. When I turned the corner onto Fifth Street, I glanced over my shoulder up at 333, and the juvie was gone. Figures. Did not see Lil Dad anywhere.

Jane your report was so full of many places. Thanks for looking all around like that. There is always more to see. So hard to leave. I feel so empty when I have to leave these places.

Thanks for your pictures ljames and Reenie.

Camper, this weather has been something lately. We have had storms that come in a series instead of just one.
The Brandywine is a great River, but can be treacherous with all the rain we have had. Glad you were able to enjoy some of your day.
