Dan & Lil are getting busy egg making.

I have not seen it yet, but the new nest box was installed and based on comments in an email, I'm guessing it might be a little smaller than the old box.

Thank you for the video, mwplay! This is encouraging.

Why would they make the new nest box smaller? That makes no sense to me. Of course, I haven't seen it either, but it doesn't sound like a good idea.

IMO, SF had a big nestbox compared to other sites. Luckily, once the eyasses are out of the actual box, they still have a huge runway to practice on, so there is no concern about falling out, etc.

And, honestly, I don't know the circumstances in making it smaller. Could have just been the physical manpower needed to build it that large and bring up all the materials (wood/gravel), or maybe the host site wanted it smaller? I know it was reported that there was a leak directly under the old box, so maybe they needed it smaller in case future repairs needed to be made? I'm clueless here...

Looks like they went from one extreme to the other (nest size-wise). :girlcrazy:

Someone was sleeping on the ledge this evening until approx 9:30PM. I just happened to tune in and see that something caught his/her attention, then she walked down the ledge and out of the picture.

I don't know which bird it was. I'm thinking maybe Lil. We normally see this when it gets closer to egg time (Clara does this about 1-2 days before eggs, but don't remember Lil's pattern). Of course, could be that she's always on the ledge and I just don't see her because the smaller camera view.
