I watching DC learn to hunt so I know for a fact that he can hunt and in fact I remember people in Rochester posting about him catching prey though I know some of them were on the stream. He's lived to 3 years old and he doesn't look like he's starving. Falcons are opportunists - they will take prey from each other if they can. Why hunt when there is take out sitting right next to you?

Hey Carly I'm not saying DC can't hunt-of course he can, but I remember Beauty hunting and bringing food to Orion more than him. I'm just concerned that if both sites have babies will he be able to handle all the hunting that will be needed. We're learning as we go here in Rochester with this 2 mate situation! And me-I'm just learning period!!

Well all I can tell you is Jack keeps his cache's filled. Because he's not around alot and has to spend his time patrolling the territory and hunting - we don't always see him arrive with food to the ledge but every time the girls (Angel and now O'connor) went to the cache.. they never came back empty taloned. Hopefully DC will figure it out - he might remember it from here as I recall him and his brothers finding the 'cache' and raiding it once they learned to fly :teehee:

ps: I like lots of butter on my popcorn...just sayin :bughug:

Yeah me too!

Beauty arrived a short time ago. Chirping away. She's apparently having her morning coffee on her patio, so she doesn't feel threatened. Maybe calling for DC?

Approx 9:49am - DC finally went into the box for a nano second. No cams caught visit. He flew in first, went to box, B landed on deck. As B was heading towards box, he left.

Baby steps....

I have to say, he's really filled out. And they've been actively mating this morning. She's in the box, chupping. He's just looking around. No vocals from him at this point.

These things have a way of coming out. Hope the two girls don't catch on. :nailbite: What male, of any species, would want to juggle two females? :laugh :laugh :laugh

Not sure bev, missed the incoming.

Patsy said when I asked whose gift it was "Tough to tell, Kris. They arrived there simultaneously with it. I'm pretty sure Beauty had it the whole time in the nestbox. And, if it's the same prey, Beauty had it on Mercury just before these captures."

DC preparing a scrape!

Edit: well, I thought that was DC but the people on chat are talking like its Beauty. Chest is white though, but maybe cam isn't showing the color. It has shown it before though.

Lots of activity at BS this morning - nothing bad, just DC & P bonding/mating, spending time in cubby.

I remember last year, he would do this - spend majority of days with Beauty, then spend majority of 1 day with Pigott. I think Carly mentioned this is also what Jack would do. Lots of time at first site, starting eggs, then once incubation underway, start other site.

I wonder if there is an egg at BS now. P & DC were mating before B & DC. If so, will he spend more time there and reduce his time with Beauty?

Guess I'll have to keep watching!
