Matrix - yes I check out the facebook pictures regularly. You do an awesome job !! And I had to wonder, what was that hawk thinking ?! We have a hawk pair living in town, and they are trying hard to thin out the mourning dove population....

I wish C&C could have got the pics when it was there!! If it IS Thinking...it will keep on keeping on...I was just as suprised last year when that coopers took up downtown...while Mystic sat on her AEP tower...Kept expecting it to get "The Message"...Well..it may have...It's Gone....

I also have many hawks right now...Lockdown for the pigeons!! hawks passing thru got 5 in one day!! Yikes!
Barn Swallows are gone....That signals the end of summer for the farm...

We should be able to see what is going on alot better when and if the cam is turned on!

I Hope there is a test run on the cam, for glare from the light from the new paint, ...but I doubt anyone will try that....

I am highly disappointed with the way the cam page has been handled... but it is what it is...

As for C&C's pic of Mystic defending at the last banding...She is now at the age where she will become more aggressive at banding and any nestbox activity... She will be 6 this coming year and entering into her prime..and if she doesn't lose any battles for this site...she will be much meaner at banding this year....

I am glad to report that Mystic and Mo are present and accounted for here in Canton, OH. I had to come up to Canton for an appointment, and decided to stop to check on our peregrines. I only caught sight of them two times, actually. Once when one was gliding across the sky, bobbing up and down a bit, looking beautiful. Abut a half hour later I saw them wheeling around a building a half block away, chasing pigeons. I decided to move closer to the Chase building, where the nest box is, pulling into a pay to park lot at the foot of the Chase building. I told the parking lot attendant that I was checking on the falcons, and he only charged me $1.00! What a deal! As I parked and got out of my car, up comes the attendant, full of chatter about the falcons - he didn't realize they had names! He told me that he had seen one sitting on the Chase building eating just an hour ago... His favorite story about the falcons was that last week he was looking out the window of the 8th floor apartment building where he lives, and saw a peregrine sitting in a maple tree - watching some squirrels rustling around in a nearby yard. The peregrine swooped down, grabbed the squirrel, and tried to fly away, but the squirrel was too heavy and was let go- (lucky squirrel). Also, while I was talking to the attendant, a passerby stopped and related how much she enjoys hearing Mystic and Mo "talking" to each other "KI- KI- KI" she said...The attendant also said he found a bird leg on the ground beside the Chase building. He figured a peregrine must have eaten it, but the leg had a blue band with lettering on it. What kind of bird would that have been?
So even though I didn't see much of Mystic and MO, it was fun to hear of their adventures, and to meet people who live near them.

Yea Tsusan!!! Glad you did a check up on M&M!!! Carly got it correct that the band is most likely from a racing pigeon....In the fall, pigeon breeders that race pigeons, test the first year offspring by sending them on a big "race"...
Some of those youngsters don't always want to "go home" and many wind up staying with feral flocks on their way "home"...
Those youngsters that have a very strong tendency to go "home" are the ones the racing fancier wants...not lollygaggers and defecters...lol...
There are individuals in every group of animals....
Some lucky and others not so...I bet if we could do a close up scan of the legs of that huge flock of pigeons downtwon...we would find quite a few banded pigeons amoung that flock!!!
