You're right, Kitten. At least she has an experienced mate to show her the ropes, unlike others like Durand.

Really Glad to see her stop too! It's gonna be hard on her body...producing eggs and adult feathers...It will be interesting to see if she continues to get adult feathers, or if the brooding hormones stop that from happening...

I read somewhere that especially the females use the incubation period to moult most of their flight feathers. (Because they spend most of their time on the eggs and don't need perfect flight feathers.)

Thanks for the captures, Matrix! That's the first time in a while that I've seen her chest & belly. Was wondering if some of her sub-adult coloring was disappearing, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Nice video--thanks, Kitten! Boy, it sounded like she was giving him H---. She must have thought he was late for incubation duty. I noticed she stumbled a bit when she was on the perch, so she'd apparently been incubating for a while.

She really is doing a great job, she won't let the eggs alone for more than 2 minutes at a time. She must not go to far when she does get out, if "S" doesn't show up she is right back.
She is going to make a great mommy I believe

Thanks for the capture, SGB. Soon we'll have another new mother to watch. Fortunately, she has an experienced male to help her.

Definitely a chirping egg. Sawatzke was on the eggs, then Mary Ellen came back, screaming.
He blasted out of the box. At that moment I could see a pip in the egg that was front-left and heard loud chirping. ME hurried over and settled down.
