What gives it away to me is Cher's tail. It's much longer than her wings (at least to me), + it has white tips. Dan's wing tips/tail are all about the same length.

Also, from a side view, depending on lighting, Cher is brownish/black. Dan is more gray. Doesn't help with a straight on shot. I was comparing with your photo with straight on shots I have and and just wasn't 100% sure.

The lighting in that scrape is deceiving. Sometimes Cher has a much more yellow tone, then it gets washed out. Then Dan has a yellow/orangey tone, then it gets washed out. It always takes me a few minutes of looking to be certain, unless I catch a nest exchange..

SGB - it's 8:31AM - There was just a nest exchange.

I don't think there was a zoom, but you can see how Cher fills up more of the box. And you can see her tail is a little longer.

Also, she has more of the black/white striping showing around her wings.

Thank you Bev. Hope you feel better soon.

They just had an exchange. I was feeding the dogs, so missed it, but it was reported on Yahoo by Jim, who is a moderator. Exchange at 8:28. Cher in.

Is there a reason now to track the incubation activity? I was under the impression that Glenn was interested in this when he was trying to determine the likelihood of Lil's eggs hatching. At this point (with Cher's eggs), they're doing normal incubation. :girlcrazy:

Intruder yesterday. They had 3 PEFA's battling outside nest ledge at approx. 4:20pm PT. Eggs were uncovered during that time.

They had 2 eyewitness accounts from people who work in buildings in area who follow this nest and reported it to moderator and a ground watcher.

Based on your picture, Nancy, at 4:42pm, we think Dan returned to eggs and Cher stayed on territory.

So, right now, just looking for odd behavior - if eggs are uncovered for long stretches. Making sure we see both parents. This is what happened with Lil, 4 days of battles, each day intensifying until finally, she was driven off by Cher. I think we are all a little anxious, especially after she just settled in and laid her own eggs.

We know we've got another pair 6 blocks away and a pair or singleton in bay bridge area. We don't know if this is a falcon (maybe even Lil), or a tiercel. We are assuming it was a PEFA, but who knows, could have been some other kind of bird (hawk?).

I mentioned hawk to you mwplay, because we had reports of dead falcon at our site last year and I went down very nervous. Now thee people that had bird supposedly know falcons. Gord wanted me to Id and if a falcon from ou r site we would have had to remove chicks

WEll it was a beautiful hawk. anyone not knowing falcons , would have thought it was one
