Red Girl just burst off a Brandywine Building ledge with a Cack! Cack! Cack! Cack! and chased a passing turkey vulture out of sight. She returned, dropped into the next box and popped out to perch on the box ledge. Meanwhile Trinity had materialized on the ledge immediately to the left.

One of them had a male red-winged blackbird for breakfast.

Thanks so much for your report, Greg. Glad to know both adults are still around and defending their territory.

Thanks Greg for your sightings. I was on 495 yesterday morning and going over the bridge, I always try to sneak a peak. No luck of course. But further up on Gov. Printz an Osprey flew across in front of me, coming from the river. Beautiful and close.

Thanks, Greg, for reporting your sighting of both falcons on Wednesday! And Faith, it must have been quite a sight to see that osprey coming up from the river in front of you!

At 12:30 pm I heard a bunch of Cack!s and looked up to see Red Girl and Trinity chasing a red-tailed hawk through the air space over the Brandywine Building. The hawk kept flying southwest and the falcons let him go.

That's great that you saw the falcons today and that both were involved in chasing the hawk out of their air space. What a great team Red Girl and Trinity make!

As always, your reports are appreciated, Greg. Lucky you to be in the right place at the right time. I guess that Red-tail got the message and moved elsewhere.

Had 3 1/2" of rain overnight here in N. Wilmington. Hope all is well there at the Brandywine Bldg. Winds were strong too.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!

Yes, Faith, that was great news about the Snowy Owls being here in Delaware! They are beautiful birds.

I also hope that the Wilmington falcons are doing OK.

I haven't seen Red Girl or Trinity yet this week but their intermittent presence is nonetheless evidenced by a fresh pigeon foot and killdeer wing on Monday and a cowbird head this morning.

Off topic but we have put several road-killed deer on the hillside outside my back fence in Kennett Township PA (faces north). A trail camera records visitors including, by day, both vultures, crows, redtails and at least three bald eagles (two adults and one immature). Red foxes every night and once a great horned owl.

Thanks for the report, Greg. The falcons in Harrisburg have been making sporadic appearances on the nest ledge also, most often in the morning. Glad various wildlife is able to take advantage of the road killed deer at your place.

GREG, OUR FALCONS DISAPPEAR FOR A DAY OR SO TOO, BUT THEN THEY SHOW UP. I'M HOPING YOU SEE THEM SOON! TOO BAD ALL ROADKILL CAN'T BE PLACED SOMEWHERE SAFE FOR THE WILDLIFE LIKE YOU ARE DOING. OH BOY, A GHO! THAT WOULD BE COOL TO SEE. I DID HAVE A FLOCK OF RING BILLED GULLS COME TO MY YARD ONE DAY, THAT WAS FUN :-)

Greg - I'm so glad you've been seeing evidence of Red Girl and CJ being in town even though you haven't actually spotted them.

I'm also glad that you moved some road-killed deer to that hillside so that other animals and birds can feast on them. It must be wonderful seeing the eagles and the Great Horned Owl!

One of the falcons, Red Girl I think, was on the corner of the Brandywine Building roof at 11:15 am.

At 11:30 this morning I was walking northeast on Market Street past the (Hotel) Dupont Building when I heard the dulcet "Cack! Cack! Cack! that means that Red Girl is angry about something. I looked up to see her diving repeatedly at the roof of 1105 N. Market Street. I walked up to the corner of 11th and Market Streets and crossed Market Street to Rodney Square. I could see that Red Girl was diving at a large bird perched on the edge of the roof on the Market Street side. Trinity came sprinting to the scene to join Red Girl in strafing attacks on the perched bird, which partly raised its wings to keep the falcons off, revealing itself as a snowy owl.

Kim looked down on the owl from the 23rd floor of her building at around 12:30 pm. Another report indicates that it was already there at 7:47 am and that Red Girl already was giving it a hard time.

I hope that the owl moves away from the falcons, for its sake and theirs. Maybe the owl should set up at the Cherry Island landfill on the river and catch rats and gulls.

well if it takes a snowy owl for both peregrines to be seen, good on it. Glad you saw them both.
It was probably just taking a break, hopefully.

Wow - What a day today with a Snowy Owl in downtown Wilmington! I don't know how the owl managed to resist the combined efforts of both Red Girl and CJ to drive it away, but I'm glad it did. I just hope that the falcons and owl are all OK.

As Greg said, maybe the owl should take up residence at the landfill by the Delaware River.

Way cool report, Greg. I would have LOVED to watch the falcons bombing that Snowy that made the mistake of getting near the falcon's territory. I didn't see it, but several years ago a Snowy perched itself on top of 333 Market Street in Harrisburg, one of the falcon's favorite places to sit. Red Girl's mom bombed the Snowy until it flew off.
