Normally when hatching, how soon do they start this wiggling? Hours before, or day+ before?

I usually see it after we see pipping...

We have 2 issues here. Durand is traditionally a scruncher and wiggler...has been doing it all season. The other issue is we've never seen her hatch eggs...

I am just hoping that she is feeling movement and hearing things and that's why the scrunching has increased...

When does Spark normally come for his afternoon shift? Do you think if you saw Spark doing the same behavior, it would be a better indicator of activity within the eggs?

It was about this time last week when I was watching Lil Dad in Harrisburg on the eggs. Doing all that fluffed up behavior. Within an hour, out popped a chick. I believe somebody had seen a pip the day before. I believe it may take 24 hours for an egg to hatch, but am no expert on this. And I do believe this was Lil Dad's first time ever to be on the eggs when one hatched. :-)

Their patterns have changed over the past several days so its really hard to know when he's coming..

He is not a scruncher, usually. Once he gets on the eggs, he's good to go until he wants to change position. If he were doing all of this, then yes.

I don't mean to be the only skeptic in the bunch, but last year I swore she was standing and listening and cocking her head...just like we've seen her do here..and I swore there were hatching chicks based on that behavior..

Because of that, I need to see a really good pip or hear what you're hearing, mwplay...before I say we've got hatching behavior..

So don't mind me...

But SGB, you've watched them all season long and you watched her closely last season. You would have a much better idea of what is "normal" behavior for her than I would.

I think I'm hearing stuff over all the roar & other city noises. I keep asking myself if I am imagining these noises, and I don't have my headphones in this afternoon. So, because I want her to have young, I question if it's just me...

I would hate to be so adamant that I'm hearing something and get everyone excited and then nothing happens.. That's what I'm afraid of.

It would probably be better for me to sit back and watch quietly...
