I looked back through all my pictures of these two and I'm ashamed I don't have more pictures. Normally their nesting is pretty quiet and so get ignored by me. Obviously I follow the nests with drama... San Jose, Rochester, Columbus...

SGB - you are right. The shadows on most of my pictures and the pixelating camera make it hard to tell who is who. Add to that the much smaller nest box & I'm confused now...

I have trying to go back to pciutres when she was laying eggs to tell. the description I psoted is only good if you have a clsoe head shot. this falcon was calling out and watchful

When I look back on pcitures , I am not sure if their descriptions are good

Well, gone...I don't know this pair well enough to say for certain...so, we need to see 2 falcons in the cam at the same time...

I checked my pics too...and also all the pics we've posted here...not one shows a rosey breast for Lil...so, that's not gonna help.

Thanks, Bev. I just went to the nesting info & copied that, but I see that you thought to look there, too. I don't normally have trouble telling them apart, probably because of Dan's helmet, but the 2 pics posted don't look the same to me.

Here's a link to Glenn Nevill's photos of this pair. Of course, they are in flight, but might help with identification. Even using his photos, they look so much alike!

Well, whether we are seeing 1 bird or two, something is going on for eggs to be unattended for these lengths of time...

Ok..just had a return...

My guess would also be Dan. This one looks smaller in the box than the one that just left.

After seeing Glenn's pictures (thanks, mwplay), I think there have been 2 birds there today. The black on Dan's neck comes clear down to his neck, where Lil's doesn't. I think part of the reason we're having so much trouble ID'ing her is that she is poofier, heavier than normal. I understand that that happens when they're fighting or upset, so maybe she'll "slim down" when she calms down. Actually we're in good company because apparently the posters in the Yahoo forum didn't recognize her either, & this nest & the one in San Jose are their primary nests!

100% agree...

I do believe there are boots on the ground, but we may not hear from they while they are on watch.

This up and down is just not right. Now, I don't know who is missing, if 1 is missing at all... I can't be 100% certain who I'm seeing.

Here is my very, very uneducated guess...

The falcon that just left..I'm gonna say was Lil

Image

Current falcon, I'm gonna say is Dan...flatter wings..no wing tips like an old Caddy!!

I reserve the right to change my mind in 30 seconds... :teehee:

What I'm seeing from the front in SGB's pic does look like Dan to me. But darn it, from the back angle, it looks like Lil & something is upsetting her again! :girlsad3:

I thought that one that left was Lil by her walk and head
I am jsut looking at face and tail shots now to compare

We had lots of closeups when we thought there was trouble before. now a fight could be with hawks also , I have seen some nasty ones at our nests, to the death(of hawk)
