Well, I think it may be worthy of sharing a story about another "avian love triangle" of Bald Eagles on Santa Catalina Island in california

At one time there were two female BAEA's and one male who bonded with both of them. Eggs were laid as both females shared incubation duty. Also sharing in their motherly duties. Thus with this example it could be possible with NB and Lil Dad sharing their paternal duties. It is just speculation on my part but it would be an interesting event for us to chronicle.Still, i would rather niecey just, to borrow a country western tune, "Stand By Your Man" :teehee:

That is an interesting story, George. As for Niecey, she's plenty old enough to breed, and I would suspect she's never done so, or else she'd be at her other nest. And our beloved Mom was only two years old when she first raised a family of four on that ledge.

What a few days it has been! I am glad Lil Dad stayed so long on the Ledge today. He needs to do that to keep NB away. Hope you get warmed up Jane. That hot chocolate sounds good.

If you think this is a soap opera, George, you should go to last year's Rochester topic & read that. A soap opera wouldn't even include some of the things that happened, because they were too unbelievable! :teehee:

It eventually settled down & one cute tiercel was raised, amidst his parents' fighting over which one was going to feed him. Looks like it may be getting crazy again now, though. :girlsad3:

Thanks for the pics and videos today, & thanks to Jane & Reenie for braving the cold & wind to find out which male was on the ledge. So glad it was our Lil Dad! :girlluv:

thanks Jane and Reenie for braving the elements . there are some things that you just cannot see from the cams
thinking about Neicey. Maybe she did have a nest last year and little dad lured her away.

I DO REMEMBER NIECEY FLYING AROUND THE AREA AND LIL DAD REALLY TRYING HARD TO GET HER TO THE LEDGE. I REMEMBER THE FIRST DAY SHE ACTUALLY LANDED ON THE END OF THE LEDGE RIGHT BESIDE ONE OF THE BOYS! BOY, WE SURE HAVE ALOT OF MEMORIES WITH THIS SITE. NOW I JUST WANT THINGS TO BE NICE AND LIL DAD AND NIECEY TO HAVE A SCRAPE FULL OF FERTILE EGGS. WANT TO SEE LIL DAD GET REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE CHICKS AND TO SEE HIM TEACHING THEM TO GROW UP. HOPING ALL WILL BE THAT WAY REALLY SOON :-)

In my video I have Niecey on the stick around the time that was reported. The falocn had bands and when turned around it had the V on back, so I am sure Neicey. Will post a few shots later

Oh my Reenie! They are just fabulous pictures! Thank you so much for all your time spent that we may see all the beauty so close up! The feathers are just spectacular! I'm reading all about feathers in a book I have. So much to learn!!
