Thanks for that interesting story Greg. So sad about the Alpha Female. They really depend on the pack leader don't they?

Thanks for the food report.

My thanks too, Greg, for the interesting story. I am aware of the wolf scenario in some parts of the west. The only wolves I've ever seen were in zoos. Also thanks for the menu report. Hope and pray there are no more episodes of violence in Wilmington. Seems like every day there's a new story about that somewhere. What a sorry state of affairs.

Gee SGB!! you are very lucky. No luck here with me. Maybe though, they will appear more now with Spring in the air. Wonder which Scrape they will use? In that video she looks like she is preparing the same one as last year. :snowflake3:

Red girl in those pictures. SHE is getting ready!! It seems to me that the camera angle has been changed a bit?? Able to see down more than across??

I would say that m.margaret has provided pictures of CJ to go along with SGB's images of Red Girl.

RG has the white tips on her tail...that is how I tell the two apart. :snowflake3:

Great catch, m.margaret...now, we just need to get them in the box at the same time.

2012 first egg was 3/9!!!

It really does look like a white tip in one of the pictures, but usually CJ's tail feathers show dark tips, while Red Girl's have white tips in good light. Apart from general impressions this guy looks like CJ to me because he has almost no white on his cheek and he doesn't look huge even though he's close to the camera.

I kind of thought that was CJ in m.margaret's pictures too. I may be having a chance to swing by Wilmington some time this week and take a look around. Need to work on my batting average!

Hello everyone! I can't believe it's that time of year again! Do I say that every year? :)

Did anyone notice the scrapes this morning with one feather in each of them? Kind of like a pair of eyes. I keep wishing I could draw a smile for a smiley face!

The red-winged blackbirds and common grackles have been taking it on the chin for a few weeks.

I kind of figured as much since I've been seeing huge flocks of them flying on the outskirts of town!

RG was just in the nest box and is now on the ledge preening.
