I missed Dan coming back in.

Yes, De Mortel is going through my mind too.

This one seems a little interested in eggs? Maybe a little?

Well she's pretty skinny, maybe if he brought her food...she'll realize if she hangs with the eggs..more food will come!

I'm reaching I know but stranger things have happened.

I'm thinking she's probably been flying around scraping with other females trying to find a site of her own. I guess she found the weakness here.

Okay.. I've got to get some stuff done around here before hubby gets home. Thank you everyone for watching with me today. I'm sorry for everyone who loved Lil. I just hope she's safe out there. I know there have been other displaced residents at close nest sites and those across the country & in Canada.

I just can't watch Dan sit on those eggs for 100+ days.....

Sorry.

I'll be back a little later.

I was thinking abut DAn and accepting this female.

Some of you watched the year Miss BAlzac, got displaced by Radisson at Edmonotn. Poor girl had a fight with Miss Edmonton 2 days before. but right after miss Balzac left nest, our male , Damon, started bowing and bonding with Radisson. It is instinct for survival

Dan chupping away

Oh for sure, he really has no choice. He's in a tough spot.

I'm pathetic in that I'm upset over the loss of Lil, but I guess know in my heart that this is going to happen more and more. If this nest didn't have a cam, people may never have known what was going on. Things were proceeding calmly, then WHAM!

It's more of the destruction of the scrape... stupid as that sounds. I guess if Dan moves on and re-nests with this girl, I'll be okay. At least he won't get "stuck" in the cycle.

I don't know, it's hard to explain. I've got mixed emotions. Sadness, Hope. I look at this girl and keep thinking..." get on those eggs, get on those eggs". She might... eventually. So, my moment of sadness-acceptance is now geared towards hoping she comes around.

I feel like I'm talking/typing in circles. I guess I need to just take a deep breath and watch how it unfolds.

mwplay,

I totally understand how you feel. I was saying also , get on them come on , jsut ly down already.

It is going to take awhile for this all to settle in. I am trying to write facts as I make comments on this site, but my heart does say something different.
It is because we feel, that so much of nature survives. If we really took to heart, survival of fittest , we would not rescue eagles and falcons, so even biologists , to some extent, follow their hearts.( of course, I think some people do not have hearts)/

Anyone here that knows me knows that i wear my heart ion my sleeve more than what I should. So MWplay, let yourself grieve for LIl and these eggs, and Dan.
I am still going to be hopeful, because I know that we jsut can never predicit nature

lots of hugs your way from one who has been there so many times :girlluv: :girlluv:

Miss Edmonton had not laid eggs. Beginning of season.

But Miss BAlzac was displaced just before egg laying. as matter of fact we thought in a few days she would. lay eggs.

Thanks Bev.

Someone asked on the SF Yahoo forum if Lil would have left her eggs, or should they assume the worst. I added that residents had been displaced and found nesting in other sites (Ohio, Canada - Mary had already responded that we saw this with EC in San Jose) but with Lil, we may never know because she was not banded.

I wasn't sure if one of your girls had already laid eggs...
