Look what I just found
Brenda Geisler, a GRE employee who watches
this site, reports:
"This year two males showed up at the nest
box, the first one 01/M – Blaster – banded in
2010 at the Sherco Power Plant, arrived at the
nest box on 3-16-12 with the unbanded female.
With Blaster being the younger of the two
males, he lost the nest box and the unbanded
female to the older male falcon H/34 –
Sawatzke.
H/34 Sawatzke was also seen and pictured at
the GRE nest box in fall of 2011 with an
unbanded female on 9-12-11 thru 9-20-11

From 10-11-12:
"The male falcon H/34 – Sawatzke - is still at the nest box with a new banded female. New female 12/U
– Beverly – was banded in 2011 at UND Water Tower, Grand Forks Campus, Grand Forks county, ND.
She arrived and was photographed on 9-28-12. She remains in the area and the nest box today. Could
this be the possible pair for next year? Only time will tell, we will see next year!"

Thanks for the info, Kitten! I'll have to include that info when I update the nesting info for this nest. Some of these nests change residents so frequently its hard to keep up! Glad to hear that it sounds like "Mr. S" is still the resident male here. Actually, I hope last year's female joins him!

Yep...I've been checking the free standing all winter...maybe Ase is referring to the streaming on the web page!!

Yes I see it has just came back on I looked about 5 days ago and it wasn't then.Well now we'll see who shows up this year if its Dot or Mrs no band from last year or will it be Beverly from ND, this is a prime nest so its going to be wanted badly by any that flies by it

I've had it up all day and all day yesterday they didn't show up til middle of March last year so it shouldn't be to much longer :loveshow:

Early March 2013

Great River Energy employees at Elk River Energy Recovery Station are on the lookout for peregrine falcons. We expect their return any day now. In previous years we’ve had our first sightings as early as February and as late as mid-March. We’ll keep you posted!

A note for our Birdcam viewers: This is live video of wild birds in the natural process of raising their young. Great River Energy will not, nor do we condone, any interference with this nest while it is occupied. However, we do work with the Raptor Resource Project to band any young peregrines at the appropriate time.
