Thanks Catbird...I should have looked at the time...but, I think these are from the same time period..

Spark & Durand are both on the ledge right now. Cam is showing that Spark brought Durand breakfast. Unfortunately when I try to upload a capture, it isn't showing the same thing as on the cam, but is showing somebody directly in front of the cam blocking the view.

Interesting box behavior....

They did this for a few minutes

Then Durand moved to the corner, picking up pebbles and did some scraping

And so Spark decided to leave..

You know...something seems different, and is Spark the first male to court Durand on the left side of the nestbox?
If it makes a difference and she uses the back of the box or the back corner to lay her eggs, that would be great!

Good question....Usually Durand is the one nearer the Nest cam..since I didn't seen the beginning, I don't know how she ended up in the back corner...

Was it her first year that she laid the eggs all over the place...one being in that back corner? That was both painful and comical to watch!!! I mean, it was like she would just walk around and drop an egg...no rhyme or reason...

My theory is that since where she was hatched (the area of the nest was was partly covered yet exposed) so now she wants her eggs to be out on the edge... like where she hatched... :girlcrazy:

and the gravel in the box is up to the lip of the board...I don't like that! :gaaaaah:

interesting theory, mwplay...I think we had this discussion last year (or was it the year before)...would a falcon try to recreate their natal nest? I would think that if Durand really wanted to duplicate Hamilton, she'd lay outside the box..Maybe neither of them like that "boxed in feeling"...no pun intended...and yes, Spark hatched in an open tray.

Look what's going on at Indy...how long has that mystery male been there? He Still will not go into the box

It will be very interesting to see where she lays them this year..With her short history, it would be nice to have a lip at the front of that box!!! I thought for sure some of them were gonna end up outside the box last year...geeeeeez...it was days like that where I longed for the very experienced Orville. He would have gathered them up in no time..Do you remember Scout's first clutch? She did fine with the eggs, but she had no clue how to feed them or to gather them under her...that took some trial and error!!

...this will probably be Sparks first eggs!!! OH BOY!!! Let's hope he's got some of his Dad and Granddad in him!!! If he does, he'll be fine!! :flirty:
