There is a very nice article about sweet Silver Boy, it is very well written.
Car kills spring's lone falcon fledgling in Oakland

What a wonderful tribute to Silver Boy, Dorothy and E2. The article said mom hadn't been seen? Well, I don't really know who this is, so I hope its her..

Its always such a tragedy when any of these fledglings are lost..but, its even more poignant when its an "only child". I think the sadness is deeper, especially when you consider this could have been Dorothy's last clutch.

I think that is Dorothy, SGB, because she tends to like to "sunbathe". Hope its her or at least that she's OK. :girlsad3:

Thanks for posting the link to that article, Kitten!
:tissue:

Edit: Guess they never heard about Freedom, Kinney & James if they think 17 is the oldest a falcon can get.

I wouldn't write Dorothy off just yet, she didn't make it to 14 by being a meek falcon and she may yet have a few eggs left in her. It's been a bad year weather wise almost everywhere and falcons old and young have lost offspring this year or not had success nesting. I say next year is another year and who knows what the future holds.

Of course I don't know if this is Dorothy, but there is definitely an adult female here . . . (pictures from yesterday)

Thanks, DEF! Can't be 100% sure, but it sure looks like Dorothy to me! :hapdance:

I've looked for him every day but could only see an adult back at the nest. I knew that he was dead but just didn't want to confirm it. He was very special. :sum7: :sorrow:

I see a falcon in the nest and ALWAYS zoom in to see and then remember. :girlsad3:
