I hope I'm posting this in in the right area, first time...does anyone know what happened last night? The chick looks beat up, more like scrape spots below each ear and other areas. Unless it's what's left of a feeding that he fed him/herself? I haven't seen him scraping on the rocks.

Maybe they are merely new spots of color in his feathers? But just boom, overnight they change color? Any opinions?

Hi Sheryl...the chick looks ok to me...sometimes you will see what looks like a raw spot below each ear. Maybe that's what you were seeing...Of course, with this chick already self-feeding you could see "leftovers" anywhere...LOL

Mom has left and dad comes in to check on the chick. (sorry for the weirdness with the video..I guess I shouldn't be moving the cam when its trying to record...LOL)

Thank you very much, I wondered about the leftovers too. He/she seems to be growing into his rolly pollyness, perhaps because he is a lone chick, he is the best fed chick I've ever seen!

this baby is hilarious...and much more assertive than mom!!! LOL..Mom has tried several times to retrieve the wing so that she can feed the baby. The baby just won't let that happen...

Hopefully, a more substantial breakfast will arrive soon.

Mom's body language is priceless.."Oh no, whatever am I going to do with him? He can't be in the terrible twos already!" Can't wait to see what she's going to do to get control back! I think this lone chick may be a bit spoiled? He may snap to and calm down when he gets to leave the nest and enter the real world. He's so much fun!

Just now mum and dad flew in with food and eyas was sooo swift to grab it and run to far corner!! So pleased I didn't miss that :clap:

Cuteness overload. I didn't have the other cam open, so I had no idea dad was there until he wandered into view..

Solo has got to be a female!!! ..Look at her size..and she's not even standing up!! Even her feet look bigger...I don't think the cam would distort that much!
