Oh Bev...I am so sorry to hear about Green Girl....where is she?!!! ...and is there a web site where we can check on her progress...

That is so amazing about the hack site...31 juvies in one place...I just cannot even imagine that!!! WOW!!!!! I'm guessing they are still putting out food for them?

Green girl is in a rehab SGB adn as Soon as Gord comes back he will probably pick her up if possible.
I will update here as soon as I know.

Yes, they are still feeding the youngsters at Pembina, but Steve said they are really doing well. He said they chase out eagles, osprey, hawks. the first while they will fill fill up on dragon flies but he said a pigeon ventured in and lets just say , it was shared by many.

Well everyone this year has been good to us. Even with some loss, we are rewarded with the tree of life(falcons). With Steve at the hack site, we have learned that some other peregrine juvie without bands is around too.

Well, I got to see the tree of falcons for myself. Early morning drive out of town and sit down in the middle if of the Pembina river on a flat rock. Sounds you hear of trickling water going past. Birds are all around doing their own thing. Then look up and watch 5 falcons sitting in the tree and watch them fly around. Young hawk came about 5 feet above my head and circled me then landed in a tree on the other side of the river. Lost sight of it in the sun , when it was landing, but knew it was there. After, a little while the hawk most of thought that I was boring and started to fly off towards the other side of the river and out shot a falcon that was not in the main tree, and chased it away. I saw many flying about, but could never see where they where landing. OVER ALL it was the BEST day off that I had off this summer.

Over and out from falconland.

glad you got to see some flying West end. we go out probably Wed.
STeve managed to trap the girl from Mis and was taking her in to get her leg checked.

Weber

Youngster flying great. she was eating like no tomorrow late afternoon yesterday with Dad munching above and Miss Edmonton on a ledge. she is not a screamer.

It is very strange for us when we go to university as we are so used to see youngsters . Radisson was in box

I have lots to post an d will do so after this weekend . Just life has been busy.( We were back at Pembina and it was amazing. lots to tell there). Lot s of photos

but Gord just e-mailed me and said he was thinking of releasing Green to her parents on Sunday. would I be there. Of course I will. It is not a for sure, but he just picked her up from rehab an d will be assessing her.

I am nervous about this as she has been gone since August 16. I know their ( the adults)hormones will be taking a different turn and they may chase her off. I do not believe she has been catching her own food. and I do not think adults will feed her at this time. They still are feeding at Weber but the youngster there never left.

this is a first. Usually they will hold them over winter but I have to trust Gords judgement.

We will see. I criticized at Toronto's site for doing this and now this. We will see .

I guess I will just have to keep my thoughts to myself :girlcrazy: :girlcrazy: :girlcrazy: :girlcrazy: :girlcrazy:

Bev. Thanks for the update and I would like to be there too. Just email me the time. But, like you said, it is up to Gord. He has helped with the come back of this falcons , we have to trust his judgement.

Thanks, Bev...I've been thinking about Green and wondering how she was. I'm wondering why Gord doesn't release her at the hack site...but, Gord is so good, we just have to trust his judgement..

It is too late to release her at the hack site. that would have had to have been done at least 2 weeks ago.
Her best chance is at U of a . Hopefull she is not chased off and is recognized. It will be 3 weeks since she was gone and I am surprised as they usually keep them at this stage . but Gord has bathed her 3 times and she has eaten a lot of quail since he got her, . He said she is so beautiful an is raring to go.

I am very nervous but she will be monitored by us and Jean , when Jean is home. although we cannot be there all the time.

quick report as I do not have time but will be back
My main concern is for Green

will be back later with pictures

Suffice to say , not going well. R is dive bombing her and chasing her out. Green is beautiful and strong. We kept an eye on her and did lots of walking but just before dark R dive bombed her off Clinical science( green snuck in from ed building) and out back of clinical an d we lot track. they were low and R came back in from north and was on Suite hotel. Dark but looked and no cigar.

Just heading out again. a long 9 hours yesterday and I am sick, with worry. no one can understand how I feel but me. Senseless and she should not have been rehab more than a few days. :girlcrazy: :girlcrazy:

lots of great pictures of green. I held her,

Back home and no sign of green ,. We will be going back after 5pm. R and chase came in about 1pm
We searched all over for Green. but she could be out testing her wings.

If Green is not gone from site for good, clinical science will be salted with quail, but if R does not let her there, it is no good. If she can get to clinical science to get a meal or two and does not look like she is getting any help , Gord will try a plan B.

She has to be able to get back to clinical science without getting killed. I am praying for that miracle that has alluded me all season.
