Update from website :

December 2012: My last update of the year. The latest news is that 'Louise', our injured female, is going to a new home in Ontario, where she will become part of their educational programs. Although her rehabilitation went well and she was able to catch some prey, the falconer who cared for her, as well as Dr. Gord Court, decided she was not able to recover her full strength and the abilities she would need to survive in the wild and during migration. Although we always prefer to re-release any of our injured birds back into their native environment, peregrines are also still very vulnerable in terms of numbers, so this is the best solution. The facility is: http://www.ourwildontario.ca

Gord always tries to get them back in the wild if at all possible. 2 years ago with our adult male , he almost kept him, but then after flying him , he made the call to release him in southern Alberta,

We are sure he made it back from migration last march but are nto sure where he is now. He was at U iof A at start of season last year and Gord thinks he may have been at Beverly bridge in Edmonton

so when he seas a no go, I know that all has been done, to try and release. glad she is going to a good home

thanks Susan

Yes. Camera is online but no falcon activity has been reported yet. The days are warm recently…

On January 28 young female falcon (Louise, ex-K91) flew to Ontario, but by an airplane this time.
An article about her:

She was renamed “Chinook” (probably because she flew from the West, from the Rocky Mountain region).
Some photos showing her first days in Ontario:

One of the pictures, from the source above:

Callie visited the nest site, seen for the first time this year. Stayed for over 2 hours. Two photos, taken about 2 p.m.

That's great to see Callie. I assume someone saw her bands?

I am sorry, SusanE – the falcon was not positively identified, yet, although some chatters mentioned Callie. I should have written “a falcon visited the ledge…”

Today I saw a falcon several times. The chat mentioned that both falcons were seen. The second camera was briefly tested, but the bird escaped from the scrape then. We could only see what was the picture like from the other camera (only one camera can be active at a time).

2 days ago: The male comes to the nest with some food. Callie grabs it and immediately takes off. By the way, chat reports that Callie has been identified. And her behavior seems to support that claim.

And today: The male’s visit, but this time without any gift…

Callie visits her scrape several times a day. Today, they switched cameras for some time, and then she came to her scrape. For the last two days there is snow in Calgary, so she is not in a hurry to lay her eggs, probably.
