Congrats Beauty & DC! Thanks for catching pictures of the first baby & the food fight between parents, Carly! Beauty's expression during the food fight didn't seem angry, but kind of resigned. She's been through this for a couple of years now so she knows what to expect! :clap:

Beauty finally got up. There's still just one chick, but it looks like we'll see more hatches later today.

Beauty had been calling for DC. She apparently needed a potty break. He arrives & she leaves, but is back within 2 minutes. Of course, he wasn't eager to leave, but finally did!

Around 2:20ish +/- Rochester time, I turned on cam to find Beauty shuffling. At that time, I thought I saw eggshell under her breast - she was faced towards back wall. Baby was very loud and very clear. I recorded for a bit, but she didn't move again, and finally tucked her head in and slept.

If the hatch was already noticed somewhat dry when people started watching cam this morning, that may have been when it was.

Wish I had turned stream back on earlier. It was right before I was getting ready to shut down and decided to take a peek and see if there was anything obvious - there wasn't, except for that really quick peek. Nothing was caught on still either, so I finally shut down.

And the tug of war over who is going to feed first - this happens every year... :teehee:

I think he wants to get on record that he will feed too!

HE LOVES HIS BABIES! :loveshow:

I couldn't even see how the conversation between B & DC was resolved, since my computer decided to freeze up then. Glad ljames & Catbird were able to post their captures. :egg8:

I think the person on chat who said that DC wants to be mom & dad is right. Just being the provider & protector doesn't sit well with him! Well, I think he'll get more time with his kids once the immediate hatches are done. :egg19:

At least this captures is different. The baby was trying to get right in the middle of their conversation. :egg20:

Hope you got one of the first feed. It was quite funny--baby couldn't eat much & was basically falling asleep standing up. Beauty kept trying to get it to eat more, but ended up eating it herself, then taking the remainder away.

I did!

I was feeding my dogs, so had recorder running. Video is 20 minutes, so I'm converting and will edit down. It's going to take me a few minutes to get it completed. Might superspeed a portion of it. Have to wait and see what I got. Part of my stream went black while recording, so want to take that part out too.

You can totally hear the different chick voices while she was feeding and now. Amazing how much different they sound. Makes me wonder if parents can recognize their voices before they hatch, especially since it seems each peregrine has their own voice - at least from the ones I've heard while watching different nests.

First Feeding Video:

I sped it up a little in the middle when Beauty was trying to feed baby and it was asleep. On audio, you can hear her chupping and "egg" babies talking.

DC hung out the entire time, on guard near main cam.

Such a good set of parents!
