Hello!

I drove downtown today to look for the peregrine kids.. no luck.
So I headed over to look for the possible redtail hawks that falconfan saw... no luck. Only saw pigeons and doves.

I then went to a location I heard had a nest of golden eagles, near a McDonald's along I-15. I did find some very large birds (I think they are Swainson's Hawks) in the location someone reported golden eagles... so I'm thinking they misidentified the birds. Anyone have an opinion?

It's hard to tell the size but way larger than peregrines. Maybe even double the size, like size of a small bulldog.

It could be a juvenile 'dark-morph' Swainson's. It looks very similar to the picture in my book on Raptors. It says they are 17-22" in length and the wingspan is 47-54". Does that sound about right as far as size?

    07:15 a.m. today, July 28: Valarie and I saw all three young-of-the-year this morning:, two were perched on the northwest shoulder level corner of the Eagle Gate Tower (EGT) when we saw a third (likely Hunter due to all the wailing)) soar on by heading to the south-southwest. Mom was shortly there after observed atop the Regent Tower ... she likely made a food delivery somewhere to the south (her bill revealed a dangling feather) in the area of the Regent Tower since the two young on the EGT followed the lead of Hunter ... off to the south and out of view
