May 8 Thursday RAIN
SURPRISE! I just saw something I have not seen before.
Mum was standing out on the ledge, Dad on ledge back a ways - he dove off, grabbed a small bird, landed back on ledge, and Mum have ran half flew to grab it from him and dove off but returned with it. I'd love to see that again on video slow motion. Now she is feeding it to chix.
Its smaller prey than usual. I hope someone who finds videos finds this one.




They have to deal with pouring rain. Adorable loose chick shaking off.

May 8
One chick out from the pile to flap. Pouring rain today.
Suddenly I saw feathers flying all over - a parent is up on the ledge 'cooking' lunch
What on earth kind of bird has such big feathers - seagull?

Looks like some kind of gull to me, too big for it to be a pigeon or dove.

May 9 Friday
I woke to see the white feathers of the (seagull?) blowing off the ledge in the wind. LOL!
That was BC! (before coffee)
The kids stood patiently awaiting their breakfast. Too cute!
Parents are bringing LARGER prey - saw Mum arrive panting with this load (snip).
She rested a bit before defeathering it on the ledge, then dragged it into box - feathers flying everywhere.
That prey doesnt look as big now lol

May 12 Monday
Mum brings small prey, one chick grabs it, Mum has to pull it away - lol
Izat all there iz Mum? Wherz th rest of our meal??
After a very small meal and 60 second feeding
The chix already have the falcon head bob - and stubby little tails beginning - awwwww
I still hongry, gonna look for Mum! The parents are at the far end of ledge wayyyyyy down there.

I was all set to snap a family pic when one flew! :( :(

Ah good, prey at last! A large mostly white bird with some black feathers
Parents were gone a long time. NOTE the tug of war with Mummy!

lozo what a beautiful kittycat avatar - I love cats! Especially siamese.

Just amazed those black feathers appeared since 24 hours ago!!!!!

May 16 Friday Temp 66 FULL MOON

3 females at Notts

There was a FULL MOON this week, and the female chick gave me a full moon a couple times as she wingercized.
The chix look over top of ledge, then over the box edge to roof below - they may leave box today already!
Mum stands by wall panting, looks sick, one worried chick crowds her, and she perches a moment on box side then onto roof, wings out - snip
I hope she is ok, what I view concerns me
Parent went back in box- chicks pulling - begging - Oh I see legs - is it Dad, not Mum? I can rarely tell which parent. :(
At last I got parent on ledge, snip quick and it left to hunt.
YOU all can decide if Mum or Dad - lol - I always get the snips and others tell me what I got hahahhaaa.

Ringing / banding - from Notts blog
The three chicks were all ringed by professionals from Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust
Following the successful ringing of the peregrine falcon chicks today, we’re pleased to inform you that we have 3 female birds in the nest.
For the fourth and smallest bird however – because it’s still so tiny – we’ve been unable to determine its gender. So we need you to come up with three female names and one unisex!
We’d like you FalconCam viewers to email us or submit comments on this blog of your suggestions of names. We’ll pick the best ones and then put them to the polls for you to vote on.
The deadline for submissions is Friday 9 am on Friday 23 May.

Tinker - for the tiny one, cuz he is a lil stinker
INQI (inqi) - for the biggest, she is so inquisitive, so eager to get outta the box
Shalom - One is very peaceful and calm
Minx - One seems to be a tease

I'll take your word for it lozo - its HOT. lol - but I was sorta concerned, it looked so wrong to me.
GSB Michele is WAITING for her 1st hatch - so are we! -
and the Notts kids were WAITING for food,
and I got both snipy with ONE shot!
