New (Red) girl feel so comfortable here.. I saw a lot of falcon bands from europe but two red bands I didn't see before. Definetly she is not from Poland.. let see this site http://www.cr-birding.be/cr-PeregrineF.htm

It is a shame with our German banding-/ringing-style. We are a federal state so many things are regulated differently changing from Bavaria, Saxonia or our local state Baden-Württemberg (in southern part of Germany). So we have several official administration authorities concerned with protection of Wildlife & Birds. Every state works like they want to do it. So - I regret - we have very different methods of ringing PF in Germany.
This new female is banded "red-red," reading: born in a Baden-Württemberg nest in nature (cliff, quarry, rock etc.) not in a nestbox. Of course those rings wear numbers, but those guys choose such a tiny gravure, you can read only when the ring is in your hand!!! :tantrum2:

So I can not tell, when this falcon was hatched nor where. I have often written to German authorities to follow the standards of other nations. Without results. :sad:

To give YOU the honour : YOU are the first to learn her name: PALATINA! :girlyes:

i.e.: We live in the southern part of Germany called "Kurpfalz" or French/English "Palatinat" with Heidelberg as former capital with it`s castle for the "Palatine elector", one of the most important German princes 400 years ago...

JETTA - is not ringed! PERKEO also without rings- could only be identified when she was IN the nestbox! We have not seen both falcons inside in 2014, january & february. In 2014 only PERKEO (small, dark head, bright yellow feet) could be seen inside visiting for some moments. We could see both falcons regularly standing on top of the steeple from below since february. But perhaps the female was then already PALATINA?
