Great captures, Terka & Bev! :pumpkincat:

I got the cam surprisingly fast, but I think the reason for that is that we just got a higher Internet speed. Little one is sleeping, but I'm too tired right now to do a capture.

I do not seem to have trouble getting cam but I am not always here to refresh.

here is an edited video of wee one ( well getting bigger) moving around then trying to eat egg, Swift comes over and tires to incubate, NOte: there is either some food on egg or something sticking out of egg , that wee one is grasping at it . ( this would indicate that it was a viable egg, and there was a hole in it, so maybe chick could not get out.( just a guess) :girlcrazy: :girlcrazy:

will come back in and post . Adobe just crashed

getting ready to turn in :offtobed: but waiting for video :imbored: :imbored:

finally

Thanks for the video, Bev! I hate to tell you this, but the "second" video is actually the same as the first one. Do you still have the second video to post?

Egg is gone. It broke, Swift has eaten the dead chick inside. :girlsad3:
Saw 3 screenshots of it on Facebook:

Well, I guess what they wanted to see was whether that egg was fertile & apparently it was. :girlsad3: Speculation doesn't help anything but it seemed like once the little one hatched, she didn't really fully incubate the egg. I'm guessing it had already died & she knew that. If she was hearing peeping from it, I'm sure she would have been more concerned about incubating.

I opened the cam & wondered where the little one was!

Now they're both back in the corner.

WOW...so sad...it really looked almost fully developed. I felt like she really kept incubating after the hatch...too bad there is no sound on this cam...

no way to know what happened...such a shame..

I Watched the other day as the young one was pulling on something in egg, and then realized that it had been fertile. It was evident in my video .

Swift incubated fully until we al knew the egg would no longer hatch. so I do not think that was the problem, I did see a pip and no one Else mentioned it, but then there was a hole. We saw at other sites , where eggs were fully developed and the chick tried to get out and could not. We even saw the shell go up and down at some sites. some adults help them out and others do not. with us not being able to record fully we may have missed something, but we have seen it before , and I am happy for one healthy chick. That 2 were viable is really a good sign for this pair.

so I am happy for the small blessings :pumpwave: :pumpwave: :pumpwave: :pumpwave:
