Have to correct myself - that was a Raven on the WE nest in the pic Beth posted. Way too small to be an eagle! ;)

Those 2 were really busy yesterday - lots of in's and out's with sticks, etc. DEF got some nice video posted on the Maine forum. I'm not seeing any eagles anywhere this afternoon, not even at Blackwater!

Nest Update from Lisa ... Blackwater Eagles

11/30/09:
Eagle Cam Note
We have an appointment with our tree climber for Friday -- weather permitting.
If the tree climber is able to go up and perform maintenance on the cam, we should be
in good shape to turn on the cam shortly thereafter.

Well .... this has me stumped. It must be parent/child. At first I thought the juvie was getting it's white head - hence a 3-4 yr. old. But the other is clearly a full adult - and after looking at all the picture I think it must be one of this years juvies....still chasing the parent around for food - otherwise I don't think the adult would tolerate another juvie being that close! They do look pretty close in size and could be both females. Eagles are known for chasing Osprey and making them drop their fish - so they were probably looking for an easy meal. And with the weather that's moving up the east coast the hunting has probably not been that good.

What a beautiful pair they are though!!! Super, super catch Beth!!!
