cam ops are A-MA-ZING!
I saw him eating too
Thanks for this video bev - I put it on RRP

Carson has moved from his first landing spot.
He fludged 8 days from normal fledge, 4 days ago.
So its still too soon for GOOD views of him.
Its hard to see him - just a flash of some white feathers

:thanku Bev.

Looks like he is perching in that tree, which is good news. I always worry about leg or wing breaks with the early fledges, but he had enough wing/tail feathers to probably flutter down when he fell. Our eaglets at Decorah also fledged early due to the Black flies/Buffalo gnats. Both eaglets were found and rescued, but one has a broken leg.

Carson is 36 days old today. If he is healthy, we should start seeing more of him this week with an attempt at his first flight. Talons crossed that he does well.

39 days old today. Carson has a good set of lungs. He seems to still be in the same general area of trees and foliage below the dead tree where the parents perch. He cries out when a parent flies overhead, but today Michelle has been perching more on various ledges of the bluff...perhaps trying to entice him in that direction. Hoping we see a fledge here soon.

I expected to see him by now.
Hope he didnt injure a wing. Til yesterday I didnt think he was hurt, but now I am wondering. I've never seen him flapping - but he's so buried in leaves thats no surprise.

:hithere: Bev.

I am wondering if Carson is already up on the bluff? I am at the office, but I just saw Michelle with prey. She ate some on the bluff and then flew out with it, circled twice, and came back to the bluff...flying into a cubby hidden from cam view, which is below the nest box. There is an outcropping of dense vegetation there. After a short time, she flew back out. I am not sure if this was a food drop for Carson or if it is where they cashe their food. The prey was a nice sized bird. I took a pic, but cannot post from work. I am going to listen with headphones on my lunch hour to see if I can hear Carson at the time this was happening. It may explain why Michelle is spending most of her time on the bluff. Newman was perched down below in a tree eating - what I think was the bird's head. Michelle had a headless bird with her on the bluff.

I had that thought in my head also yesterday later in day.

I am so busy monitoring my sites but I take time to watch here.
that would be great Nadia if you could hear something. I will try also
at our sites, youngsters tend to fly first thing in morning or later in day, so...

I agree....I have a feeling we missed the fledge and he is sheltering in a cubby where the cam cannot see him. Both parents were just perched on the bluff together taking a siesta. They are no longer perching consistently down below, so I suspect he is higher up, which is great news....away from that silly raccoon. Carson is very stealthy....lol.

People on the Explore site are posting they think Carson is on the bluff in a cubby.
I did see Mom there with BIG juicy prey.
Cam op still searching the trees
Parent in same watch spot on dead tree - watching into the trees
I dont think he's fledged

I just scanned through about 8 hrs of the DVR since sunrise and I cannot hear him with volume on full. I heard whining by one of the parents early this morning and a brief alarm call by a parent, but nothing from Carson. I cannot even hear him when Michelle flew with the prey into the cubby. I am really at a loss.

Thanks Terka. I am glad we have your eyes here. I was just posting about that. Michelle ate on the bluff and Newman joined her, waiting for scraps. She is gorgeous...such a dark color. She did not share and filled up before taking leftovers down to the trees in a southerly direction from where the box is. I heard brief calling as she flew, but could not tell if it was Michelle or Carson. Newman ate a scrap on a dead tree below. After a while, Michelle arrived and knocked him off his perch...encouraging him to hunt. She then lofted into the trees in a southerly direction. I am guessing here, but Carson may still be in the trees...more toward the opposite bluff, but still at the base. The trees are tall and dense there. We are just seeing the top of the canopy. He could be anywhere in there. No doubt Mom & Dad know where their son is. :15heartbeat:

Thank you, Nadia. Beautiful words. I can not describe it in words. Only picture and movie.
