If you have limited viewing time today, you may want to keep your eye on Genesee. There is a pip and very vocal chick inside.

:15heartbeat: Excerpt from IWS statement and an update on eaglet 45/D from the Bald Canyon eagle nest (3 eaglets with one rescued from ground earlier this season) on San Clemente Island: "He swallowed a fishing hook attached to a fish on 6/1/23. We rescued and transported him to a rehab facility near San Diego on 6/2/23."

Status Updates:
6/3/23: The fish hook is in the lower GI tract and “free-floating”. The veterinarian was unable to remove it endoscopically. A specialist will be examining 45/D on 6/4 and a plan will be developed for the hook removal.

They made the decision to not give out the name of the facility to keep people and reporters from calling and will give out updates as they receive them. They have a donate button and donations to IWS for 45/D's care then will be forwarded directly to the facility. Something that we may see more and more of in the future across the nation as these places that care for the birds on cam are heavily burdened with calls and it is disruptive to their work.

Interesting info regarding the chicks at Mercantile Library, Cincinnati..

They were banded (5/30)...by the Raptor, Inc organization. Brief video of the banding (only long enough to confirm 1 male.) The gentleman who banded is only permitted to band with the silver federal band. In order to band with color, he said he would need to get a permit. (interesting)...

So banded, but no color bands..

:15heartbeat: Bald Canyon eaglet 45/D update:

6/4/23: A second endoscopic removal attempt was unsuccessful in reaching the hook. The treatment team is attempting one last trick before resorting to surgery - feeding him fish stuffed with cotton balls to either elicit vomiting or to provide padding around the hook as it moves through the digestive system. This is believed to be less risky than surgery. The next update is expected late evening on 6/5/23.

RE: Mercantile Library

Chatter stated that Chick is on ledge outside of box and was spotted with binoculars this morning. Hope that's True.

CORRECTED
Warren, MI banded two females on 6/5/23.
Unbanded male was named Fred. The female banded bl/blu 64/K (unnamed at banding) was named Wilma, and a vote was conducted to name the chicks. As expected, the most popular names were Pebbles and BamBam. But since both chicks were females, they named them:
Pebbles-f b/blu 21/AE
Betty-f b/blu 22/AE

MSU Spartan Stadium chicks were banded 5/24/23.
Swooper-f b/blu S/66 - third to jump out of the box to the roof on 6/4.
Egbert-f b/blu S/65
Muhammed-m b/blu 70/R - second to jump out of the box to the roof on 6/3.
Pickles-m b/blu 71/R - first to jump out of the box to the roof on 6/3.

This info is also posted under Misc. Peregrines - Michigan.
