ETSU Johnson City. Mom Shima has been patiently sitting on the nest hopefully thinking about laying an egg.
Dad Noshi arrives with a big stick and of course there is a discussion about just where it should go! :flirty:

Sequoyah site

the female was injured and could not incubate for days. the male did the incubating but it was sporadic.

but she appears to be better and shares in incubating. it would be a miracle if this last egg hatched.

The last egg is finally gone, so there might be a chance of a reclutch. It is still early enough, we will just have to wait and see.

:1val: The head mod is calling a hatch at 5:19 for Dale Hollow who would be DH9. There is a short video in slo-mo at 5:19 of River pushing up what appears to be a large part of an empty shell up the side of the bowl that rolls back down, however I have not seen DH9. Myself before calling a hatch, I would need to see DH9. Also, earlier River brought in a squirrel that has ended up in the nest bowl right by the hatching chick. Obey tried to remove it when he was on duty, but was unable to. Right now River is on the nest and after dark Obey was still on the left limb during the swing out, but they have zoomed in now and you can't see him.

:1val: Yes kittenface, I thought she jumped the gun. That's why I wrote it up as I did. There is a very active hatch in progress right now as at 9:14 you can see DH9 on the half shell, then River rolled the half shell with DH9 in it upside down. There is a video of this event.

Edit to add: they called a hatch again at about 11:33 or 34, but view was not adequate enough to say it had cleared the shell completely to me.

So we've got 1 bobblehead, 2 eggs and 1 squirrel in the nest bowl now!

:flirty: At 0818, Obey met DH9! Very sweet as River was tearing pieces of food for DH9, Obey was taking it from her beak to try and feed his bobblehead, but he was not very successful this time. River flew and he took over brooding and incubating duties. Not to worry as River had fed DH 9 earlier. As of now there have been 5 attempts to feed this morning.
