Thanks for posting those 2 updates, Bonbon..

So sad about the first one...I wonder what could have happened? A fledge trying to gain altitude and crashed into the building? :sorrow: I wonder which one it was..

So thankful for that person (was that you, bonbon?) who took the time to rescue the one in the road..

The importance of a fledge watch...easier said than done in most places..

Another update posted by Ches Conser. approx. 3:50pm:
Boh & Barb Peregrine Falcon Update #2
Oh my goodness, there were actually two eyasses rescued this weekend! One was rescued from the median by the building by a good samaritan and is with a raptor rescue group. The other wound up in the good care of caretakers at the Maryland Zoo. The USFWS is working with the interested parties to return them to 100 Light Street.

Added: Not me!
(I have been down there, couple of weeks ago - as usual, saw NOTHING (it was raining).
Approx 1 - 2 months ago, I was talking to the parking attendant at UM Medical Center - a couple of blocks away. There was a dead sparrow stuck in chicken wire in the carport ceiling area in the front of the building. The attendant told me that this is the first year that a falcon has NOT been to the area for breakfast. (???I said , "HUH?") He said that during sparrow nesting season, a falcon would frequently fly in and grab a baby sparrow from one of the (unseen) nests and fly away... he said they would be alerted to this by all the sparrows 'raising H_LL.')

I just haven't had the energy to follow to many nests this year. So sorry to hear this news. :sorrow:

This was posted today on FB approx. 9 - 10 am this morning:
There are plans for the two rescued eyasses to be delivered to the rooftop of 100 Light Street early this afternoon. It was determined that the rooftop would be the safest place for the eyasses to be reunited with their parents. The experienced rescuers tell us that it normally doesn't take very long for the parents to find them, and this should give them plenty of time to do so before dark.

And this was posted approx. 5 pm today:
The eyas that was being taken care of at the Maryland Zoo was successfully placed on the roof this afternoon. We are hopeful for a prompt reunion with Boh & Barb!
The other eyas that was rescued by the Good Samaritan on the median strip did not return today. The raptor rescue group noticed a drooping wing, and so arrangements are being made for a veterinary visit.

Another update posted on FB (approx. 6pm):

"We had a couple of reports from employees at the Transamerica building that one of the peregrine falcon eyasses flew into the window on the 32nd floor fairly hard. The bird survived, but seemed a little out of it. We've reached out to USFWS. We'll share updates as we receive them."

I don't know, Swinwk... I just skimmed thru the FB posts on Ches Conser. and didn't see anything.
I'll keep checking.

Thanks Bonbon...I haven't checked their FB page today, but I did vote for names...but, I was a tad upset when they only requested you choose 3...I chose 4. Just because they lost one, doesn't mean it doesn't deserve to have a name..I posted that on their page...

Barb...I think

Posted on Facebook a few minutes ago..

(Did I know Clementine had grounded earlier this month? :girlcrazy: )

We have an update to share on Clementine, the female peregrine eyas that is being cared for by the great team at Owl Moon Raptor Center. Clementine's wing was dislocated at the sternum, and she remains in their care with a wrap. They remain hopeful that through work with a falconer, Clementine could heal and grow strength to a point where she can be released into the wild again. Many thanks to the great folks at Owl Moon Raptor Center and the Good Samaritan who found Clementine and sought their care earlier this month!
