Update April 13, 2017: The Crazy Osprey Family is awaiting a technician to repair the webcam. COF has reported that they are certain there is one egg in the nest and Tom and Audrey have taken turns incubating it.

It's time to guess this season's "object in the nest!" I'll start and guess "paper towel" ... :teehee:

Oh, oh! It's firmer than a paper towel, she just moved it to the other side of her. How bout a "flattened dixie cup"?

Crow visited the nest yesterday (late afternoon?) when Audrey was taking a "fish break" and fiddled with the eggs.

(Chat doesn't know if egg(s) were damaged or not.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW0OisHcG-o
Here's the video - the description said it was Tom on the nest (I disagree); the egg may not be viable after this attack, but as of 11:42am, Audrey is incubating all 3 eggs, i.e., has not removed the egg that the crow pecked.
(Chat indicated that Tom was M.I.A. from the nest for long periods of time yesterday, I don't know where the fish came from (Tom? Audrey?); Audrey must have been very hungry to continue removing the fish to eat.  She probably also didn't want to attract predators to the nest with that huge catch.)

Just saw a good egg-turning by Tom(??) - the 3 eggs were turned - all 3 eggs looked great.

May 11, 2017 update with photos from Mrs. COM:

:15heartbeat:

Excerpt from above:

First and foremost, I know you are all waiting with bated breath for the hatching of our first egg. The range of hatching osprey eggs is 35-42 days after they are laid. At our nest, the typical range has usually been 39-41 days. I know you can all do the arithmetic, but as a quick guide, here is what we are looking at:

Egg #1-laid April 12, range of possible hatch dates May 17-24

Egg #2-laid April 15, range of possible hatch dates May 20-27

Egg #3-laid April 18, range of possible hatch dates May 23-30

So there you go, we are getting close!

:gaaaaah:

All 3 eggs were predated by a crow this afternoon.

(The crow even took care of the sparrows' eggs.)

:sorrow: :sorrow: On timeline I saw 1 definite osprey egg predated and 1 baby sparrow killed and eaten. I believe Calico Tom removed the remains of the sparrow. The osprey egg that was predated, the crow hid what remains were left in the front rim of nest and buried it. Possible 2nd osprey egg with small hole, but I'm not sure and I am hopeful the 3rd osprey egg made it through the pecking. No matter, the crow will return again and again with any future opportunities. :girlsad3:
